Why no 9 inch coil?

Well-known member
I feel like Nokta is missing an opportunity here, the 9 inch coil is the most popular size coil on the Deus 2 and the Manticore, in fact, I hear a lot of people commenting on the forums that they would rather have the 9 inch coil come with the Manticore instead of the stock coil. So what do you all think? Would you love to see a 9 inch coil for the Legend and Score series? I would love to have a 9 inch coil for my triple score, perfect size coil in my opinion.

They do have the 9 x 6 for the Legend.
Yes but it's not round. I am talking about a round coil. I have the 9.6 but would prefer a 9 inch round coil. I am old school, back when I started all the brands ( yet there were much less to choose from) had round coils. They are making a comeback with the top brands and Nokta needs to get onboard.

I love the 9 x 6 coil. I get the same coverage as a 9 inch round coil, but with less weight and better separation.

I’m still hoping for a SMF version of the 7 & 9” Concentrics used on the Anfibio.

I do like the 9x6 as well. I guess I'm an old fashion detectorist and just am accustomed to round, that being said I love The Nokta brand. I still have a Simplex plus and my favorite coil is the SP22 . It is excellent for seeded hunts.

Round is also deeper than an oval. I like to have the option of both, as they both have their place.

The Legend has two 9" coils already. The LG24 9.5X6" that has already been mentioned and the LG30 12X9" coil that comes stock with the 2nd gen Legends. Both are really lightweight and work great. So, I don't see any reason why Nokta should make a 9" round coil just to be like the Manitcore or XP.

Love to have one for my legend. The big stock coils on all the brands, to me, or next to useless. Just my take on the subject.

I have the 9.5x6 on my legend. Love it. stock coil is the 12x9. To me this coil is some what heavy. of course now that ive turned 80, a lot of things seem more heavy.

I'm almost 70 and coil weight definitely matters to me too. The LG30-12X9" coil is a lot lighter than the original Legend LG28 11X11" coil so my reference to lightweight is compared to the 11X11" coil which plenty of new Legend owners have never experienced. Weight difference is almost 2 ounces. Weight difference between the 12X9" and the 9.5X6" is almost 4 ounces.

So, for people that want to go after the deep stuff and/or are looking for the best coverage, the 12X9" or 11X11 are good tools. For people that are mostly concerned about weight and are looking for shallower targets in general or shallower targets in heavy trash, the 9.5X6" is a great coil. I hunt in high iron mineralization a lot which can mess with depth and my 9.5X6" coil will still hit and identify 6" deep coin sized targets. It can probably do that and more in milder dirt.

I don't relic hunt or salt water beach hunt, just to far away anymore. so the mid size coils do just fine for me. my main love is fresh water hunting. for 28years now. I started this year the day after memorial day. at the closest swimming spot, 9 miles, ive been three times. Monday I went to two more a little father away. so far ive found four junk rings, four tungsten an three Avery silver rings. No gold yet. Gold around here, in E. Texas, is hard to find. H.H.
