Wish List for E-Trac II

Non FBS mode for prospecting (actually be able to find sub 1gm gold nuggets, and manual controlling and tweaking frequencies, (more control) 1+ghz cpu, ability to download, upload, and swap such tweaks. WiFi for transferring files and firmware with PCs tablets, and websites, OLED with 1000x800 resolution, 24,000 colors, 8+gb RAM, Clock display, 5mp camera, target logging with GPS stamping, camera on control box to record targets at site with timestamp and gps stamp. Faster recovery between targets. Is there any reason we should be stuck with 1990 LCD displays and 48 mhz cpu on an thousand dollar machine?

Is there any reason not to have wifi on digital cameras? Photos could be set to automatically sync to your pc, or home storage server, when in range or from the internet. There are probably a lot of electronic items that need WiFi, but people can't think past our current paradigm. Cell phones should control door entry, car entry and authentication, tv channel changing, thermostats. Such phones and tablets could tie into the ETrac as well for tweaking functions.

All nice stuff..would be the first 5 grand MT...lol

I would love to see a tone that can be assigned to depth. I hunt mainly by sound and then look at the display when I hear the right sound. One of the first things I use to judge a target worthy of recovering, in our city park, is the depth meter.

better/brighter screen..... USB port updates D/L from Minelab

Hope you have been working out because that sucker would weigh in at a metric ton with all those features. Some great ideas though, I'm really digging the integrated camera + gps idea.

The depth gauge is pretty much useless unless you are into night hunting.
An update from ML that could put a depth reading on the main display...

If they need a lot of battery, maybe it could be mounted on your belt. You wouldn't think the electronics need to be heavy.

How about shedding a few ounces?

Ha ha. Good surface joke. I didn't realize that Driods and iPhones weighed a metric ton, they have most if not all of those capabilities, and if they don't it is because the companies providing them are trying to limit ways around their revenue schemes.

How much does a GPX cost? 5 grand.

You get all those features for $50-600 in a cell phone, but because it is a metal detector and most MD customers are 60+ years old they know they can dumb down the electronics a couple of decades. Look at Tesaros!

I would go with an Android powered E-Trac. Just think of the free apps you would have and all the bells and whistles. My droid X has a much nicer display than my E-Trac..thats what they need to do is hook up with Verizon . Would hate to pay a Data charge to go hunt tho...lol

another thing, how about an alarm that tells you when the sensitivity drops below a user defined level. for example when i hunt auto +3 usually ends up being anywhere from 25 to 31....rarely, ill look down and see its set to 15 or so...id like a heads up if it falls below 20, just so i know.

I'd love a built in Clock,

A numeric value in the depth indicator

The ability to program in coil size/specs to make the depth indicator more accurate, (and perhaps some other areas would become more accurate)

Perhaps even be able to select the size coin you want the depth indicator to measure off of. I believe it is currently a quarter sized target, perhaps S, M, L?

Upgradable Software/Firmware via some sort of flash utility through the USB port.

Faster processor

On board storage

Rather than built in functionality of GPS, Camera, etc that people would want, perhaps more modern docking features so it could be linked up to a smart phone and a corresponding app? This would help keep the cost down.

Or some sort of docking station on the top, that you could plug in some sort of proprietary GPS/Camera/Video Camer type unit for those that are interested.

Built in splitter for an X-1 probe or some other like feature, or a built in probe that works like an X-1.

Ability to move the the line between high and low tone in TTF.
