With Auto Track off is it possible to hear if GB requires adjustment?

If I raise and lower the coil would I be able to hear that the GB requires adjustment? I don't own a V3i but am considering purchase.

Yes, this how actually you do the GB, raising the coil and lowering it must be with a steady threshold, unless you hear a noise raising while approaching the ground. You just keep bobbing the coil until is quiet.

Sure, you don't even have to raise and lower your coil. When the detector is ground balanced you will hear a steady threshold when no targets are present. If your threshold disappears or becomes louder and no targets are present means your ground balance has changed and you might want to do another manual GB. If this happens often you might be better off in AutoTrac. My ground is pretty consistant and I hunt with AutoTrac off but still do a manual GB every half hour or so.
