Word to the wise about the 11" Pro Coil.

I was out in a Park yesterday and got a couple Signals that gave me 26-27 on Digital and showed 3/4th's the way down the Depth Meter. The Signals were strong and the kicker is that they seemed to be a bit long. If any of you are using this New Coil, make sure to use Pinpoint Mode since the objects seem bigger than they really are. One Target gave me a 27 and this thing was all of 3/4th's down on the Depth Meter. I tried using Pinpoint but nothing, not even a flutter. I then rescanned the Target and still got a repeatable Signal. I dug down and I was about to give up on it since I was down 10"+ thinking Junk and then I seen it. It was a Wheat Penny down close to 11". The thing here was that it gave a lot of Sound which I couldn't believe for how Deep it was thus almost giving up on it thinking Junk. I almost gave up on another Target that gave me a 26 on Digital and I pulled a heap of dirt out of the hole and finally found it. This thing had to be 12" Deep since I had my entire Lesche in the hole, all the way up to the top of the handle. At first I thought it was a Token, but I soon found out that it was another Foreign Coin from Norway, a 5 ORE dated 1875. This is the Oldest Coin taken from this Park I am hunting when I only have a short amount of time to hunt. I also got about 8 Wheats and an Indian Head so remember fella's, this Coil isn't like your Normal Coil. It seems the Center of the Coil is Hotter thus making things seem bigger. Just make sure you don't walk away from any goodies and Good Luck and HH to you all with these New Coils. There proving to be greatly improved and become a favorite for me.

Hello James.

That is good advice. Thanks for posting it. I don't have this coil yet, but it is one I am considering getting.
I could very easily see myself doing just that -- getting a signal that sounds good but seems a bit too long
& expecting a beer can top instead of a coin & deciding to pass it up.

I literally had to turn down my gain with this coil as it was a pain to dig 22 shorts at 8 inches deep, and they all sounded like they were close to the surface. This coil is a beast!!!! I do believe after buying and using every available coil made for the SE, that this is easily the best single coil available. It's depth is better than the 10 x14 and it gets better separation than coils smaller in diameter and it locks on to targets with a much stronger than normal signal, almost like it amplifies the target signal. For true depth perception, you will have to turn down your gain.

Just want to make sure that others don't pass up keepers. I'm happy to help out fellow detectorist's. Good Luck and HH GR!

That way when I get a Super Deep Target, I will still be able to get enough Signal from it and also know that I will need to dig to China. I still get fooled by some Rusty Nails but not so much anymore. This Coil is a Winner all the way so far, at least as far as I can tell this early in the game. Good Luck and HH Digitrich.

I got a Large Target with this Coil already that I thought was large, but then went to Pinpoint and found out there was more than one Target in a small area. It turned out to be multiple Wheats which I could have sworn was going to be at least a Soda Can or something bigger. I suppose you could lift the Coil also, but I will not guarantee that this will work since I haven't tried this option yet. So far, I have only used Pinpoint to distinguish size on some of the larger Targets. Thanks for the reply Small Change and Good Luck and HH to you.

Iron Mask -10 with the Sensitivity set at 22 Semi-Auto. I also have my Gain set at 10 and I also use Fast On, Deep Off. I have found that Deep On, Fast Off will amplify Rusty Nails more making them sound alot like Coins. Also, I have noticed that using Fast On only, that you will still get a good enough Signal to know that you should dig the Target. I have been trying Manual also due to Electical Interference and it does well also, but can make the Targets Signals a bit Choppy if the User doesn't have a lot of User Time logged in on the Explorer, thus possibly digging more Iron or leaving Good Targets behind since the User doesn't have the knowledge of what to look for in them Super Deep Signals. Thanks for asking and Good Luck and HH to you.

I didn't mean to turn it all the way down; but if you normally hunt at a gain of 7 with the stock coil, you will get similar sounding results at a gain of 5 or 6 with the new pro coil, you know, turn it down just enough so you can tell the difference between the deepies and the surface targets. I have a really deep site where I can get silver dimes at 14 inches with the stock (other than at the beach, that is the best depth I have ever gotten from the SE and it is specific to this particular site). They are all mercury and Barber dimes with wheats and a couple of Indians here and there. I am going to try and use the Pro coil there and see if there isn't a seated or two just a smidge deeper. The site dates far enough back, I just needed a coil that went a little deeper and still could get decent separation, I think this coil is perfect for that. I am going to try that tonight and also the SEF's that just came in today and let you know how it goes.:detecting:

I went out this weekend and kick bu$$,It found coins that were left by many hunters and it locked on everyone like they were on top of the ground. The ground was so dry I had to use a shovel to dig so dont know if they were on edge or not.I think that we need to keep this quiet so we can find more. HA.HA.I dont think im going to take this coil of for a while,It is different from the stock so I want to learn it on the Iffy sounds. If their is any .I might need a backhole to dig the iffy ones.Have a good one and Good luck on your next hunt.

Sounds like this coil is really coming across---man I was hoping it would.----Wonder how it's going to stack up against the SEF 10X12??---We sure got a couple of nice new toys to play with.---Somebody give us more reports on the 10X12 ---QUICK!!------Del

my Explorers as I've been swingin' them for 5 years come october but 99% of my time is devoted to relics which requires different settings then you would be using. There are so many types of CW relics that are iron that I don't use iron mask that much except in the higher #'s to allow more iron to signal but noticed when I hunt parks it's seems to be way too much iron allowed to have stability with the machine. I will back it down to around -10 and give it a try along with fast on and deep off. Thanks again and HH!!!

james im so glad to see your post on this coil, i just ordered two of these for my XS. I was hoping they would go as deep as the stock coil with better seperation and hit coins hard or harder. My stock coil on one of my XS has went lame or something. I tried to find a 1050 coil for it but thats getting hard to find. Thanks for your informative post, keep then coming HH Phil

I think you will really like the New 11" Pro Coil Niterider_58. As far as I can tell, this Coil is hitting Coins just as Deep as the Original Stock Coils that came with the Explorer's. The Signals are definetly Louder, at least I am finding this out but it will depend on others Soil Conditions and Settings. I look forward on a report by you when you get your Coils and try them out. Hope you see the difference as well. Good Luck and HH.

between the 2 Coils also. This would give everyone an idea on which is getting the Depth and which is getting the Seperation that we Treasure Hunters are looking for. Until someone does a side by side comparison, we won't know for sure. Enquiring Minds want to know, Right! Good Luck and HH.

I have yet to put the Stock Coil back on and it has been 2 weeks since I got this Coil. I think you can agree with me Crow-Duck, it's a KEEPER! Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.

When hunting for Relics from Battle Sites or what have you, you want to dig Iron Targets also just in case of recovering Guns, Cannon Balls, or other items made from Iron used in battle. For Coins, it is different. Just depends on what the user is looking for. Hope to hear some feedback when you use Fast On, Deep Off once. Until then, Good Luck and HH.
