Wot Coil 15" for Sovereign GT question:confused:

New member
I'm looking into a WOT 15" for the GT and see they have come out with one with additional spokes on the sides.

Are there many differences between the new 2nd generation one and the original one?

Thanks

Right Bob, It does look stronger with two additional spokes. I really have not read anything in my research where the original was weak so I,m thinking there might be some tech improvements inside the coil. I see used ones 150 to 200 and new 265.

I will write to the company and see if I can get the details

So I wrote to the company asking about any technical changes and it appears they are so small that they are not worth mentioning. Here is their answer to me on the changes to the 2nd generation coil.

"Hi,
We had to change the tooling for the 15" coil and when we did we went to injection moulding. The spokes provide a structural support to the outer perimeter and also for the plastics flow when moulding.

The new design coil has had some manufacturing improvements internally also.

We no longer support the old style coils with skid plates so best to buy the new design.

Now you know the rest of the story::cheers:

Now if they could lighten it by about 300 grams it would be better on the arm. :poke:

I am happy with the old style, no problems whatsoever. I sprayed it with truck bed liner and it works great (no need for coil cover). I think the new spokes would just add extra weight, and the coil is already heavy enough. If you know the weight difference between the old and the new please post it. Thanks,

I was told the new coil was lighter,I know seems hard to believe..The old WOT is 840g and the new WOT is 747g.....
