Would like to know how many are happy with the Etrac vs are not.

I have an SE and an ETRAC .I find that the etrac is a good machine . I have only dug 2 silvers with it 1 at 6" and 1 at 8" . Do I think it goes deeper than the se I don't not yet. There are some nice improvements on the ET .I like the Smart & Digital up at the same time . The pinpoint in Sizing is a real plus.and the icon on pinpoint are great also. I never used digital on the SE but I find it helpful now as far as the fe 12 thing .Its OK for the kind of hunting I do~ heavy trash. I find myself digging more nickles and maybe more gold rings. It does run smoother than the SE. Dont know if I will sell my SE just yet but if I find it just sits there I will. So far it a keeper HH RonC

With respect your question is a little bit premature.

We ran some tests with the original SE, SE Pro and the E-trac at the Minelab owners annual rally last weekend.

Weight wise the SE pro and the E-trac seem the same but the few degrees change on angle of the handle position has made a difference.

The SE was set up by its owner of only a couple of weeks and the SE Pro settings by a experienced user gave both of the machines gave about the same performance perhaps the SE pro had the edge.

One of the UK`s most experienced owners set up another ET and with his know how it came out on top.

To get the Best from the ET the user must know what he is doing and it will take time for many owners to get to that degree of experience and possibly some never will.

I may well buy one when the dust has settled.Jerry.

There is always a little excitement when a new machine comes on the market, and with that some disappointment when it isn't everything everyone was expecting.
I am sure that as time goes on, and more experienced is gained, the full capacities of the Etrac will come out.

A lot of negative posts appeared on this forum when the ET was first released mostly being from existing Explorer SE owners who have already spent their pennies and now only months later a totally new model has been released. The E-Track doesn't need loads of time to learn like some would have you believe, in fact its about the only machine at this level I have used that can detect coins reasonably well straight from the box with the built in coin program, and with a little bit of modification and a tweak to your personal preferences it will out detect most machines available today.


The EX SE is still a great machine and that is why the E-Track is not a replacement but an addition to the Minelab range. Here in the UK its been a little slower to take of, but all that I know have nothing but praise for the machine.

Don't be afraid to swing this puppy at a really fast speed it seems to luv it and the recovery will keep up with you as well.
