First one of these for me. Pretty rough but I'll sure take it! The seventy with the 6" HF coil just keeps suprising me!

Nice find and it's not in bad shape in my opinion... I've dug modern nickels that didn't look that good!!
What numbers did it ID as on your X-70 with the small coil?
Congradulations,
Felix

Congratulations. I would like to find one of those.

Thanks Felix!

The nickel was pretty shallow, under 2 inches. The site is a construction area so, I'm sure it got moved around. The target ID was a dead on 12 from all directions. I have had nickels ring up anywhere from +8-+16 using this coil. I have noticed that depth, soil types and whether a lot of fertilizer (corrosion enhancer) was in the ground seems to have an extra effect on nickels more so than the higher number targets. . Wherever they ID, they usually lock right on and stay steady. Using 4 tones, the "bong" of a nickel almost always sounds more "solid" to me than other targets in this range. I dunno, could be I'm nuts, that's just how it seems...
