You are NOT going to ****ing believe this!

Rich, How about taking a couple more pics of #3, try different lighting to see if it make it come out a bit more.

BTW, how hard is it to find a coin that is 28mm, Left facing bust and carnations on the back? (I haven't found it yet)

Too many Early Coins for one outing that's for sure. What shall be the punishment? I Know! A limit on Early Coppers! Only 2 per hunt. So remember BlackX, only 2 Early Coppers on your next hunt and also, no more multiple Coins in 1 hole. That really makes me sick.:puke::poke::rofl: Seriously though, WTG on that tremendous hunt! I wish I could find a hole with multiple Large Cents or even 1 Coin from that era in my area. You really need to get back there and pound that spot you found. Hope to see some Early Silver on your next post. Congrats on the Fugio Cent and Good Luck and HH on your return visit.

After watching all that nice stuff you and some others post, it's nice to have some goodies to contribute. That it was a once in a lifetime event was just icing on the cake. I'm planning on really hitting that spot hard. I've never gridded off a site before--though I'm kinda close to it on one close to me--but I think I will with that one! There has to be more old goodies there.

I concur with the others, awesome digs Rich! That's what makes this hobby so great, you just never know what that next target is going to be!

HH,

Jeff

Looks to be a Louis XVI 12 denniers coin. Republican version. Probably minted in 1791 or '92 from what I've been able to find so far.

Thanks, everyone.

looking for them. You should run an ad. I can only dream as I swing my coil. makes you wonder what great things are just under our feet as we walk around every day. Hey that gives me an idea.Metal detecting sneakers...Yea!That's the ticket...You Lucky Dude!!...GR

WOW man that is 4 very nice coppers how are you going to top that  AWESOME FINDS...NOW GO BACK AND FIND THE REST OF THE LOOT...HH PHIL. :minelab:

It's a copper 1787 Fugio Cent, not the 1776 larger pewter cousin known as "Continental Currency" (There were a few silver and brass pieces made in addition to pewter, but were probably patterns or experiments). The 13 links and "We Are One" are very similar and both designs were attributed to Benjamin Franklin. The Fugio cent is important because it is the first coin issued by the authority of the United States.
Very neat find!
