Your Most Memorable Find.. All Time

Of all of your detecting finds over the years which one really stands out whether small or large.
Mine was a complete roll of all 1964 uncirculated Silver Washington quarters (minus the wrapper as it probably rotted) found beside a sidewalk in a neighborhood in Ft Worth Texas in 1975, with a Whites 4DB TR. Talk about a shocker about 3" deep. Forty shiny silver beauties at one time. I figured someone just came from the bank and dropped it in the grass ten years earlier
 
Years ago hunted a high school yard and the finds were few and far between. Found 5 pennies and a dime. Later at home after washing my finds discovered one was a 1922 D without the D.

there were a lot of good ones but id say one of my favorites was the time i found about 15 indian heads and 5 or so nickels all in the same hole along with the remains of a small change purse. all the coins were in the 1890's.

Second day detecting 13 years ago with my first detector (Minelab Sov) I hit a 1774 2 Reales I thought I was rich showed my wife she agreed. It hooked and ruined me right on the spot.
 
That is a hard question to answer, I'll have to think about it.
 
37 years ago I was hunting in a park in Plymouth Michigan (1974) I was having a ball digging lots of silver and wheaties. Suddenly, I got the feeling that I was being watched, I turned around and saw a young lady watching me. She asked what I was looking for, I told her anything that my machine would find that was made of metal:detecting:. She really expressed an interest in my hobby, and more questions were answered than what the little kids asked me. She asked me when I was going to be in the park again.......Welllllll, the next time I showed up, I didn't get much hunting in. Now, 37 years later, we are still married. We got married in 1978 (33 years). She has lost much interest in my hobby, but always wishes me good luck when I do manage to get out.

By the way NebTrac, It was I who asked my husband about getting the E Trac, he already had one
You know WHINING can go both ways.

So far (only three years detecting and E Trac since November) I suppose my best find has to be the 1907 Barber Half
and my oldest coin is a 1810 large cent, I know, no one asked.

St. Patrick's Day 2007 ~ I dug only 2 coins ~ $10.50 face value . . . . . 1868 $10 gold coin and a 1912-S Barber Half dollar ~ they were lost TOGETHER!!

Memorable?

I have many great memorable finds and some really nice finds so TODAY the most MEMORABLE is the finding of a sex toy with my E trac. In fact in a 1 week period I found 2 of them. No need to elaborate just suffice it to say I cant get that out of my mind....

Now your wondering what the heck kinda place I am hunting in arent you? Found them hidden in the woods....no nobody arround for a long ways. Head scratcher. No date or mint mark....

Seeing what you have found in the past I am suprised your wife lets you go detecting at all. What happens if you find a newer one at a park and bring it home? :yikes:

the most memorable day I can remember was about 2 yrs ago. I was hunting a field site with a buddy, was still using my xterra 70 at the time and I found 3 large cents, 2 were actually in the same hole! 1842, 1848, 1851........
 
Most memorable... hmmm... I've found some great, rare coins that really had me excited, including an 1838-O no stars half dime (my rarest USA coin), 1877 and 1909-S Indian Head cents, a 1909-S VDB wheat, etc. - these are all special memories for me.

But one find just blew me away once I realized what it was...

I have only found one "Love Token" in my years of detecting - an 1875 dime with the back smoothed out and three initials engraved in a fancy font. The little welded silver loop for hanging this token on a chain had broken off. These silver love tokens are not that rare according to other detectorists I know, and I've seen one gold love token found, so didn't think that much about it when I found it.

When I got it home, cleaned it up and studied the three initials, which are overlapping each other, I was stunned... it turns out they are MY INITIALS!

And, the three initials are in the same sequence as mine are! I could not believe it.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime find that still amazes me when I think about it today!

I have been lucky in the 3.5 years I have been going ...nice jewellery, silver coins back into the mid 1800's, copper coin 1803, gold nugget
BUT - most memorable is a non descript, plain old 1879 penny .....it has sentimental value to us.
I found it in the building ruins where my wifes family owned a hotel around that that time
It was one of the first old country pubs built in the state

can't wait to get back into action after my knee operation, I have not been detecting since 2nd Feb. :blink::blink::blink:
I have entered into a competition on May 1st so that gives me goal to get the leg ready by.
