Also I was not defending Calabash as I was wondering why Monte would post this lol Cal called him out and Cal got hammered. And I get why, I do.. not everyone can or will get along. Just our nature. My only point was the poster of the thread should have been questioned over a response to the thread. Does that make sense? A few years ago when I first started seeing Calabash threads and videos my first thoughts were wow another psycho movie maker lol. Reading his posts I thought he made sense, but came off wrong. Then I had a conversation with him .. He is different meaning his heart is in the right place and his passion comes through as him being an ass. But he isn't an ass at least to me. I've learned from him along with a few of you guys on here. Ok I have to take my dogs for a walk so need to go. ;)

Good lord! This is a heck of a thread because someone said "Deus I". Ya'll should go detecting, would be time better spend. Thats were I'm going now with my "Deus I". Good luck on your next hunt. Jeez, I hope XP doesn't come out with "ORX II" - that thread will be a train wreck!

I literally laughed out loud. Been awhile since I heard that.

Well, I for one am going to order the Deus II. I have decided to sell off everything I have and keep my Racer II. Kinda being a Star Wars fan from the early days.....now when someone asks "say OregonGregg, what's in your detector arsenal?" I can proudly exclaim " R2D2" ..................ya I'm bored.

Thanks for the videos Calabash, the D2 has got me curious. Looks to be a pretty darn good machine. In the future when you do your nail test, you always swing east & west. Can you step around and do a few North & South sweeps. Would like to see if you can get a beep on the target from any approach.

Gregg, you must be bored for sure. Winter, frozen ground, the fall rush of work is past. If you're really bored, send Calabash one of your spare CoRe's with your settings and the OOR coil and let him mess with it in his hard hit relic patch around that old home.

As for the headline of this thread . . . . I have to join with Del's thoughts about this post to begin with. I am disappointed. Del is correct about ahrps . . . What had started for me as a very pleasant venue with great friends and dedicated detectorists turned into something else not enjoyable for both me and others. So I decided to move on.

I came here to Findmall to escape that stuff on ahrps, and now, here it is again. :(

Anyway, thanks to Calabash for taking the time to do his own reviews of this new Deus 2. I've been doing this long enough to glean lots of information from his videos that helps me in my own decision making. i like to come to my own conclusions about things and suspect many others do as well. (y)

LOL don't go try'n to drag me and my poor ol" CoRe into this. I already have Monte mad at me when we talked this morning. He does at times get very anal over some of the simplest of things. We already in the past had our arguments about whether you can count war nickels as silver. Then the argument about the proper way to say coil dimensions ie: is it 5 x9.5 or is it 9.5x5 and so on and so forth. I told him to go on Amazon and get the book "How to Win Friends" by Dale Carnegie because your sure as hell ain't gonna do it by starting a thread like this one :)

Ya him and I have gone round and round on a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day we are still detecting together. I'm not picking sides. If CB and Monte wanna go round n round......there big boys. I appreicate the time and effort that CB takes to put these videos together. I appreiciate Monte taking me under his wing and showing me the ins and outs of talckling these old ghost towns. There is a lot more to it than just iron ( nails, spikes etc) If it was only iron it would be pleasant to detect. But not one test I have ever seen factors in the stuff ( at least in these old western ghost towns) is the over abundance of Rusted Tin. Not rusted tin cans but all the rusted tin flakes etc that these towns are covered in. Haven't seen a machine yet that stands out when you throw that stuff in the mix.

I started this thread, and I apologize for not phrasing it to satisfy everyone.

Here is the starting and ending of a very short post:

There isn't, and never has been, a DEUS 1

XP designed and gave us a new model, not a new name for an existing model.
The first statement is true.

The closing statement is also true as far as I know. I'll need to see a new catalog to know if XP renamed the Deus or not.

Fact: I made the post because it is something that annoys me and a group of detectorists I am in touch with. I could have, and maybe should have, simply asked how others felt about it, or even if folks thought XP could or should change the name of the original product? That's really what I am curios about.

Today, out of curiosity, I spoke with several of them, especially those 'back east'. It didn't dawn on me before because we've been discussing the new models, especially the Deus II. They brought up their annoyance with the term Deus I, so today I asked directly. The reply from most of them is they don't like Calabash Digger. So there was some bias in their comments I hadn''t been aware of.

I watch almost all the videos I can, usually Gary Blackwell, but CB's and others too. I told them to look mainly at the content of any video or verbal post and not how/who delivers it.

There isn't, and never has been, a DEUS 1.

Please, just refer to them by their actual names of DEUS and DEUS II. If someone can't figure out the original model, maybe sewing or knitting would be a better hobby. XP designed and gave us a new model, not a new name for an existing model.

well Monte, it was not the there is no deus 1 comment... its the If someone can"t figure out the original model maybe sewing or knitting would be a better hobby comment that was an ass move. How bored can you AND your detecting friends be to all upset and losing sleep over a bunch of us using the term deus 1??? lol really? thats like me complaining that the color of someones digger is black. makes absolutely zero sense to complain about ... why would it matter ? i have read many of your posts over the 16 or so years ive been on the forums and this is just weird.

monte you have become annoying. there is a deus 2 before that there was a deus or deus 1. why have you put so much time and energy into bashing calabash in a sideways and sarcastic manner?

Hey, it was partially a sense of humor, but on 2nd thought, I have seen a number of posts by basically beginners.... in their 7th year of detecting .... who might do better at those other hobbies.

Monte

you are annoying
And you are an unknown who is new to the forum. What area do you live in? What detector(s) do you use? What types of sites do you generally search? How long have you been detecting?

Two new detectors for us to consider, out now or coming soon. The Deus II and The Legend. Are you interested in either, and if so which one and why??
