Vista 5kHz detector?

JCR TX

Well-known member
@RG-DeepTech , Would Deep Tech consider a Vista detector model running around 5 to 6 kHz patterned after the X to be marketable?
I think the lower frequency coupled with that type of performance would be a superb Relic machine and an excellent coin hunter in modern Aluminum trash. I realize the market for this would primarily be the USA. I certainly would purchase one.
Anyone else think so?

Most Metal Detectors Company's Which Use Single Khz Ran at above 14Khz - 30Khz for reason there over all Hot Brass, Silver and Coins and Great Over All Sen, to small targets . Over Many years {50 Plus Years Hunting } I using many brands I have found Super Low Khz which use by Whites, Garret few other where more difficult to work iron area and even large deep nails that will give good signal , the only positive where little better or hotter on lead objects and last lower Khz you loss Sen to "High Conductor } Metal such as Brass, Silver, Copper. Gold . I used Vista- X since first came and proved be Great Relic Machine that works from best soils to worse soils and also the best in Heavy Iron site and with Dual Disc you easily can Adjust to Alt Disc Hunt Modern Trash Sites with ease. Lastly, Don't Forget about New Gold Hound! I used last few months and Super Deep on Small Object and Little Deeper Bad Soil with it 30Kh. Vs Vista-X . The Biggest difference in DeepTech that set their Machines apart is the Super Sen in their Analog Circuit Design and their Coil Design by Plan whom one best in world in his designs and Knowledge. Im sure good reason why all DeepTech ran above 10Khz not lower! Hope find info helpful ect

Since I am in the USA, it is possible I have just had a different result/need than what is common in The Old World. The targets I seek are larger on average and lower kHz works well in our mineralization & in the type of Iron that is common. The Vista X is one of my chosen Relic/Iron trash detectors because of it's performance. I think the same performance at 5-10 kHz would produce targets that 16 kHz may miss. No one detector is best at everything, each sees things a little different.

I'm not sure what frequency the Relic ran.

Yes. In the USA we are geared more to large silver coins and not as deep. In the UK for example they look for some gold coins know as Quarter Staters that can be very tiny and the purity is low. Another coin is the Farthing and is extremely small. And the Hammered silver coins while larger are mostly low in silver. And since they are looking for things thousands of years old they can be very DEEP. I think you are over thinking the depth difference between the 5-10 kHz and those just above. Sometimes I think you need to know sorcery to figure out frequency, transmit power, receive sens., sweep speed & direction, ground offset and balance, and loop type and size. (and there are the immutables like mineral, moisture, emi, nearby trash, and a dozen other things, and just plain old luck.) (I have been detecting over 50+ years and the deepest single I ever used was the Compass X-100 at 13.77 kHz) No one machine is best for all tasks in all ground. Ask Richard at Backwoods and see what he says about your questions. Where in Texas are you?

I lived in state of V.a. Relic Hunting Capital in USA to say . There more Civil War Relics in V.A./ M.d. anywhere in USA and hunt 100s Camps, House Sites , Plantation ect I know Richard well and speak to him over past few years and purchased first Deep {Warrior} from him . Since here in V.a. most if not all Civil Site hunted hard over 40 plus Years and need go Deep to find what other brands miss , all surface finds are long gone , Yes once in a "Blue Moon" to say you will find spot never hunted and any machine today will hit to find thing in 1-9 inch Mark . Over All Relic Sites I work with Vista-X It Great Over All Relics Machine Super Hot Brass , which need Hunting Relics and will hit over 12 Inch in any soil, if set and with skilled user . I used Nautilus DMC2B which also ran at 14Khz Hot on Brass, but Vista-X with Octagon Coil is DD and DMCB use Concerti which wail not handed bad or difficult soil. I found that Best Relic Pure Machines used over years ran at 12khz-16khz

I am in East Texas. If Deep Tech did make a 5-10 kHz detector available I would still keep & use my Vista X 16kHz.

Where in East Texas? I'm originally from Jacksonville. (Lon Morris College is closed and a wreck and good hunting there and the Rodeo Grounds behind it.)

Have you used the DMC-4? Jerry Tyndall told me it would go deeper in bad ground. (I have a DMC-2B also) I can show you some ground in East Texas with red dirt and saturated with iron ore that will knock the wham out of any VLF: very little depth. And try Fort Manhassett in Sabine Pass: with wet salt & positive and negative ground mixed, you cannot even ground balance. You have to use a PI in these places.
Some of the newer PI's should really open things up, if you can afford them. Some friends carried some Tdi's a few years back into Va. and the stuff they found was incredible. (Pr Hudson is still producing too)
My PI was available to the late Tom Dickey and he did use it for shells: Pete George had the same offer but I think he has gotten too old. (Do you ever run into John Sexton? If you see Steve Sylvia ask him if
he is still banned from the kitchen.)

Palestine. I have lived here all my life. Cherokee County has a little more history than Anderson & you have more of the same hot Iron Ore dirt!

I hade one Jerrys DMC4 it work in hot ground but lack Sen to Brass/Silver object as DMC02b, The DMC4 was great on Lead and super stable but only had about 1/2 Transmit on DMC2b. Here In Va Has Hottest Ground In world people gold hunting in AZ hunting Va are "Shocked" by how bad soil are in Culpeper V.a. TDI get finding Button super high Tone but it give Low Tone on Lead. Buckles just as nail

Boy did I use to drown minnows at Lake Palestine growing up. You should go to Loves Lookout park: the area down below the fire tower was used for picnics and reunions since the 1800's and there are tables there. Lake J'ville is not real old but full of picnic sites. We used to go to the Tomato Bowl & climb over the wall in the back and play football, and that field is full of stuff too. While there is a lot of iron ore most of the area is sandy and good for growing, and taking a multi will help. Mixon, Tecula and Mount Selma are old promising areas too. New Birmingham down by Rusk has been a ghost town since the 1800's too. Near the site of present Old Larissa is the Killough Monument in memory of 18 settlers massacred in 1838, and troops from Fort Houston near Palestine caught up with the Indians near Frankston and did battle. The area down below the land has scattered graves in the woods and I helped my uncle log it in the '70's. (these are not graves from the battle, those are at the monument and fenced in) The BEST book on Texas history is called Öff The Beaten Trail" and the author William Edward Syers traveled Texas while writing it. It gets into the nitty gritty and tells you exact locations on history and lore like I have never seen. He lived in China Texas a few miles west of Beaumont and I met him back in the '70's. Everything you can want to know about Texas history is in that book.

Were they using it in regular PI or the ground balance mode? In ground balance you can get rid of iron, and that makes a difference on high cs low too. (you think the ground there is bad, try the ironstone in Oz)

Thanks for the book recommendation. I have a lot of books on Local & Texas history but not that one. I will try to get it.
Yep, lots of History around here if you learn where to look even Spanish from the late 17th Century.
Thanks for responding.

Yes I had DMC-4 That Jerry Made as Special Oder it also had Low-Q Coil and ran on 6 Khz Feq. It was Super Stable in Bad/ Hot Soil and Ground Balance Great Hot on Bullets but not hot on Brass, Siver Like DMC2B, It also lack in Depth Like DMC2 Since has Fixed Transmit was Fixed Like Old DMC2 { Appox 6-10 Using DMC2B Power Scale} Sadly, Jerry passed away to Soon and one best and smartest In making break in Metal Detectors ., Jerry Last project he started and never finished was making a P.I. Detector with Iron Disc .

I thought the vista Relic ran at 4 khz if I remember correctly.
The relic was 8 kilohertz just so you know I spent a lot of time with the relic found a lot of great things and you do or you did have to work it slow not a fast swinging machine death was incredible but the ironic thing I did find a lot of gold rings with it LOL which didn't make sense to me but I was happy just the same!
