It would be nice to get some answers here, too. Most members aren't forum hoppers, I know many will, but I think to get a technical answer here will help the forum to get on.Mike, check geotech forum. Try a search before you ask your question. In many cases your answer will already be posted.

Admin, Hope that doesn't violate rules. It's a technical forum dedicated to detector development, design, construction.
True, it would be nice, but I've found Geotech is the quickest way to get the answer Mike is looking for. It could be a week or more before someone with the answer sees his question here.It would be nice to get some answers here, too. I have a Nel coil for a sovereign . I want to cut the connector off and connect Nel wires to the excalibur coil wires .What do we have to work with? Is the NEL coil blunt cut, meaning that no connector is attached, or does it have the connector? Also, an image would be helpful to see if the wires are exposed, are they shielded, or not. Let us know.
BTW, if the connector is attached, there is an image of the Excal board and the SOV connector with a numbering system.
Watch close on the Detech SEF. Black is (1) Grey is (2) the chart says that but many over the years when in the order the colors are shown and not noticing the numbers 1 and 2 are swapped. That should be easy enough. images were taken from this forum and prolly another.
Before you start cutting things off, and desoldering wires, take pix of what you have.
When you do cut off the connector, leave about an inch of wire on the connector so that you can verify which wire goes to which pin. Then you can cross-reference with the images to double check what you are thinking, to solder to the Excal. Be sure to write little notes of what you are doing.
Triple check by uploading pix to this thread. Someone here might catch a mistake if it's there.
Then you can test and enjoy.

Not many SEF coils left in this world...
Best way would be to trim about two inches of the black outer cable covering, ( If they are not color coded) then cut one wire at a time and check the continuity ..pin to the wire you just cut, and label each wire 1 thru 4. The reason, some of those coils, the wires are not color coded or numbered. Also I do believe the pin numbers is on the sovereign fittings up inside. See if i can find one and I'll post a picture.I have a NEL Hunter coil for a sovereign , and I want to connect it to my coil wires on my Excallibur 2 , with the green label .
