Silver shortage

So, yes the silver has dropped way off. I remember hunting a small part of a Boy Scout camp when I was 18 in the 1980's and my friend and I found over $25 of silver alone.

There is still plenty of out there, The Manticore allows you to hunt next to concrete walls with rods in it and poles. These are the areas that could not be hit before. also, I pull silver dimes out of old school sites on the slopes overlooking the field as mentioned above at 8"+. They have been hunted before but the Equinox or Manticore gives you those couple of inches more that lets you find them deep.

Homesites are the best now. Look for recently abandoned houses from the sixties and before also. Make sure it is not a drug house though.

Look at those old hunted sites and see where it is difficult to hunt- under bushes, around metal woods next to the site. Remember, the site looked way different 70 years ago when that silver was dropped. My father told me that all silver coins were basically out of normal circulation my 1967. so 58 years ago.

I expect that the finding desirable targets will slowly begin to decline now that almost everyone has a metal detector and those promising sites will be hunted to death. Detectorists will have to spend more time researching in order to locate promising sites in less traveled areas.
YouTube has opened up the hobby to the masses and detector manufacturers have responded with mind boggling choices for buyers. Next up - detectors that dig the target for you.
DD I tend to agree with you, however almost all my outings this year have been to two heavily hunted city parks and they continue to give up silver and wheats, Ihps, Buffs and Vs, tokens and so on. It just proves you can't find it all.And all the wide eyed newbies that think they will strike it rich, most don't last. After a few trips with a pouch full of pulltabs and rusty iron and they get discouraged. Just look at the turnover on the forums. As far as the manufacturer's go, you're right the choices are almost endless and what I don't get, a metal detector is not like a TV or a fridge, where they will be in every home. Their bottom line will take a hit sooner or later with unsold, outdated machines.

Mark..I went for a drive today...The glory hole where I found 17 silvers last fall has been plowed and I only have a couple of days to hit it before the weather goes bad... It's rough plowed so it will be slow hunting...
Good luck Ted I hope you find something.

Oh man, good luck. Maybe some old silvers got turned over. If it too rough maybe a small coil will get you closer. Quality over quantity I always say. May your next post come with bragging rights. Hehe. Again good luck.
