GPZ8000 about to drop.

Holy crap! In the 1950’s, you could buy a 7,000 sq. ft. house for that price. Yeah, not for me. More so, for the rich and famous.
Its pretty over the top isn't it.
I remember when I first started detecting for gold anyone could afford to have a go and buy a good machine for not too much. A battler, don't know what you call one maybe someone struggling perhaps, could get a detector and have a go, it gave them hope. And I saw as I worked in a detector shop, numerous battlers succeed and it helped some get a leg up in life. You could get a detector for around a weeks wage. 15k is more like 3 months wage and is so far out of a battlers or even an every day persons reach its becoming more a well off persons hobby or pasttime. Minelab really have over the years since PI began taken it out of the average persons reach.
When they first brought out the first PI the SD2000 it was $2500, within a month or two they saw that people liked them so banged the price up to $4900. I still remember the shock I got when I decided to get one, thinking $2500 that people I met payed, to be told it was now virtually double in price in the short time I saw one till when I went to buy one. Greedlab.

WHAAATTT-----Youse guys ain't gonna shell out $15,000 left & right for this latest new whiz bomb???? LOL---If'n I'd get one I wouldn't have anything to drive!----I'd have to sell all my vehicles to pay for it! :)
Eggszakly.
I could buy a nice used truck for that.
At least it will get me to where the golds at.
Instead of riding a bicycle carrying that over priced machine.
I think the Axiom looks much more inviting.
And it can find some Small gold.

Same here, and if I had a few dollars left over from the sale of everything I own and the purchase of the latest and greatest metal detector to hit the market with all the bells and whistles, I'd walk over to the Walmart into the sporting goods dept. and buy a tent. This would be my new home.

I think my Monster 2000 will be my last detector. If I was younger and fitter I would still wait and watch before committing 15k Aud on any detector. That price jump would really have to coincide with a leap in technology in my opinion.
Im going out for a swing with my little monster tomorrow as our weather has finally cooled down from the 30s to 40s celcius to low 20s 😁 Goldilocks weather.

No worries Odan.
Nice day here. I live in the Victorian Golden Triangle. Went to an old 1860s gold lead. 3 hrs there. Dug around 20 junk bits and got 7 tiny bits of gold. Mate im pretty worn out with age and stuff so it was just an easy to get to well known spot. But it was great to get out.
I really do like this thing. Put it in Auto 2 and let it do its thing. Easiest detector Iv ever used. Its designed for tiny stuff in the worst ironstone mineralised ground here and it absolutely cruises through it.
Here's where I was. You should be able to see the small mounds of throw out material from the old guys.

I have a question for you, how deep were those small bits?
If the 8000 is $15k in OZ, how much is the GM2000 which will also find the small bits.?
Larger pieces I can understand, but not the smaller.

Awesome.
I'm guessing you had it setup for small bits ?
In that mode would it still hit the larger stuff deep ?

I know the Axiom will do that.

Something I've always been curious about.
Especially being older and working alone.
I've read stories of prospector's vanishing in the outback.
I guess a few of them were vacationing prospecting.
I watch my favorite gal prospector Outback Gold Fever show on yotub.
I've asked her. Never answers this question.

With the gun bans there.
How do you protect yourself from Bad people ?

That's some crazy small gold.
Did a pinpointer help you find those bits ?
I don't know if any of my pinpointers could hit on them.
