Anyone here have or use home weather stations or weather radios?

I just ordered a Davis Instruments Pro2 weather station to replace a Honeywell weather station that has died after 5 years of use. I also picked up a Sangean CL-100 weather radio that has the NOAA S.A.M.E. technology built into it. I like how it auto alerts when there is extreme weather in our...

Pam and I actually went detecting this past Saturday and I found Superman's ring!

Woot!!! Our collective gold drought has ended. While neither of us found much, about $3 between the two of us, I did find a nice little bauble of the 10K variety. [attachment 240419 HPIM2274_1.jpg][attachment 240420 HPIM2275_1.jpg] [attachment 240421 HPIM2276_1.jpg][attachment 240422...

Here is a time lapse video of the Waldo Canyon fire. Tuesday evening is when the worst of this fire was for us. Awesome and so very sad to watch this

The fire is over 40% contained as of today. Total fatalities is still at two. They were lost in the Mountain Shadows area in a single home. I believe they were husband and wife although names have not been released, the address of where they lived has been. It only takes a little searching to...

A preliminary count of houses lost in the Waldo Canyon fire is 346.

The acres burned is up to 18,500 so far with 32K evacuated. I had a friend that I found about today that was in the evacuation zone. He is currently in a motel room in Dillon, Colorado. I offered and hope he accepts a room at our house. It looks as though the will not be lifting the evacuation...

The Waldo Canyon fire has exploded into the worse case scenario

A thunderstorm north of the Springs actually blew gale force winds into the fire area which has now exploded the fire. Houses are now being burned and the fire department cannot get to the homes because it is too dangerous to even be in the area. Flying Horse Ranch is the area of the fire now...

This summer is just not getting off to a good start in Colorado

Here is a picture of the fires that are currently going on in Colorado. [attachment 236417 all-wildfires-map.jpg] The Elbert fire is now out but the rest are still active. Our fire has exploded to at least 2500 acres. We'll find out how much more when they do an infrared fly over tonight to...

Here some pictures that we just took of the fire.

These pictures were taken in northern Colorado Springs looking towards Pikes Peak and the Waldo Canyon area. The USAF is just to the north of where these were taken. The estimates so far are that it has now burned 1000 acres. No actual reports yet as it is 0% contained and is burning in several...

And now it is our turn for a wildfire.

It is blazing hot here in Colorado and with that comes fires. There are 4 active fires in Colorado and New Mexico, and now that can be upped to 5. We have a fire on the West Side of Colorado Springs that just started around 12 Noon. Pam and I were headed into town and saw a black column of smoke...

    Elson has left the building!!!!!!

Elson, Pam, her mom, and I had a great couple of hours visiting! We had an enjoyable meal at our favorite BBQ joint (Bird Dog BBQ). And he is on his way to the motel. We had a great time swapping stories and talking bad about a couple of folks on the forum. (Actually Elson started it, but I...

There are times when you simply pay your respects and honor those who served and gave their all.

I have been to Arlington National Cemetery and the thought of laughing at any time throughout that visit, never entered my mind. You have to wonder what those folks were thinking. Well, they weren't thinking and were quickly and sternly reminded of where they were. HOOAH to this soldier for...
