Finds from the last couple of hunts.......

Not getting out as much as I'd like to but have managed a few finds over the past couple of weeks. Tried another area in the woods near my home today. Been avoiding it because of the amount of trash dug in there the first time 5-6 years ago. Zillions of glue tubes, pulltabs etc. etc..... Today I...

Embutido and noodles are gone  Time for another post  .....

Went back to the spot with the BMX course yesterday. Spent the 1st five hours digging in the foundation but did not get a single solid signal  For the next 4 hours I put on the small coil to torture and interrogate the party area. All I could come up with in there was 1 button and a...

    Last Sundays hunt was interesting......

Went to check out a new house site but it was so overgrown I couldn't even get my coil to the soil and anywhere I could get close there were big sheets of tin roofing hidden under the weeds. This one will have to wait until early spring. Managed a couple of big pennies on the edge of the woods...

    Any thoughts on a bullet?....

Got this yesterday and never seen anything quite like it. Appears to be an Enfield .57 but has an extra wring near the nose and a red clay insert. Taken a few plough hits over the years. [attachment 58925 clayenfieldmay3rd07.jpg] Thanks for looking and any help is much appreciated, GH, Chris

    One of those days.....

Went out for a few hours to the spot where I found the iron jaw harp. Got there around 11 and dug the nice 1930's 10k gents within 10 minutes. My size and 7.5 grams. Too bad the second initial is wrong. Started to do the usual "nice find" sit down for a smoke and gator aide and discovered I'd...

    Todays stuff.....

Went for a walk in the woods today and got a few things. The George III penny came out after kicking a rotting log apart and going under that. Oldest coin I've found in the city so far. The Latin on the sterling pin translates to "A line every day". It came out of a small dump. Not found many...

    Yesterdays finds.....

Went to another wooded area yesterday looking for an old house site. I think I came close but didn't find it, brush was so thick you could only see 20' in any direction. Try again in the fall. Decided to hunt the trails going through the woods and came up with some goodies. The first coin dug...

    Recent hunts....

Haven't had a lot of time to post lately. Still working a lot of overtime and helping my mother at the farm. Any spare time has been spent detecting  Two weeks ago headed out to the house site with the dirt bike course. When I got there the fire pit was still smoking, there were beer &...

42 and partly sunny! Beautiful day to get out!....

The weather has been nasty so when the sun came up this morning off I went. Returned to the spot I've been doing the last few weekends. Getting real tired of digging trash but figure if it ever warms up for more than a day or two its going to grow in very fast and the fields are too wet. There...

    Todays stuff....

Went back to the spot where I got the token last weekend. As its turning out I'm finding a lot more 1940's coins than 1800's vintage. Starting to think there was a lot going on in there just after WWII. For about two hours all I did was dig randomly around the foundation. Clear out a 3' square...

    Went back yesterday...

intended to spend the whole day but just too darn cold. Got more utensils (not in pic) another bell, musket ball, holed 1831 British penny, 1950 quarter and a broach depicting a couple picking apples (I think). [attachment 52661 mar31st071.jpg] Best find was another fancy button. Not quite...

Say what you want about some of todays kids.....

They may be messy, mouthy malcontents but you sure can't call them lazy! I found some new spots over the winter and got to hit one of them for a few hours this morning. Its in a city so I was expecting a lot of bush party trash but this place was unbelievable. Looked and sounded like up to no...

    My mother sent me this....

These are from a book called Disorder in the Courts of America, and are things people really said in court, word for word, taken down and recently published by court reporters, who had to endure the torment of remaining calm while these exchanges were actually taking place. ATTORNEY: Are...

No coins from the woods today.....

but I did get what I think is a fancy bridal rosette. When found it was completely white from the lead backing leaching onto the brass so I thought it was white metal. [attachment 45126 rosettebridlejan72007.jpg] Weather has been amazing up here! 40 degrees today and sunny with no wind. Some...

    Last Hunt of 2006....

Went back to the place I got the two halves in a while back. Pounded the heck out of that spot for an hour or two and not finding anything just started wandering around in the woods. Got the '59 quarter, and 43'and '68 dimes next to an old fire pit. All in the same hole with 6 pennies. The...
