    HELP FROM ACE 250 USERS

Some of us are returning and some are new. Old topics are still valid today. Tips are always valid and finds are always interesting. Sometimes reading through the comments is better than following the crap going on in today's world... :giggle:

    AT-PRO SET UP

Same as woodbutcher, only I keep sens at 2 notches below max and full sens when in quiet clean areas. Sens down to 2 notches when searching for surface losses, like rings in grass. Always use earphones or headphones and listen for the "quiet" tone when pinpointing, very important. ground balance...

Silver at $50 Gold at $4000

Higher gold price, yeah, but it's also the dollar which is tanking... Double risk, either you need the money now, or risk inflation eating away at the money after you cash in...

    Fabio is back!

Yup, I'm back and in a few months I should be out and about detecting and retired from work. I'm still using my old AT Pro, and I just recently bought myself a Nokta Simplex Ultra. I've only been out 6 times with the new MD, but it has found me 2 rings and about 70 coins. Most of the coins were...

Parks, sports fields,, and snack shacks

Do some research where old grandstands might have been located. Dig up those areas and you might find some silver coins.

    HELP FROM ACE 250 USERS

Just a reminder. If you want to avoid the bottle caps, which ring out pretty noisy, when using the pinpointer on the ACE 250 (and other Garretts), use earphones and listen for a very low volume signal, closing in on the target. If you keep pinpointing a noisy target, then it's either big, or a...

Dug these two coins last week.

Also did a quick hunt for Euro coins after a Celtic festival and dug up 5.85 Euros in coins.

I found this piece of gold, can't find info about the markings.

Anyone have a clue about the gold cutlery markings on this piece?

Mountain trip. Sluice, detector, pick. Should I bring all three?

If I manage to get at least 3 days off near the end of June, I'll be going up in the Alps. There are mountain creeks, a river, WW1 trails, and a mountain full of blue mineral specimens in the area I'm interested in. Should I fill a backpack with all the essentials to do all three, or should I...

Been a while since I posted here in the find section.

Here are today's finds. I did a quick hunt after the showers and found a coin spill under almost 20 cm of clay. The coins are from 1894 and 1895. The cross is gold plated. The matt darkness at the top left was caused by the acid. :surprised:

    Your finds and personal notes.

Do any of you keep track of your hunting trips, with details about the location, date, weather, battery life, finds, and other information? I did when I first started and up until about 2 years ago, but now, I just go out and hunt. I think it's a nice idea, because then I can go back and read...
