    Charging

When the light comes on and then goes off, if you look close with some reading glasses, LOL you can still see the tiny battery icon up in the corner (I think left corner). It should be MUCH larger (in my opinion). HH George

    Noisy Sov in all-metal Pin-Point!!

You are correct in your assumption. Unfortunately, the Sov is very susceptible to EMI interference. Your case sounds like a textbook example. Still my all-time favorite detector anyway! Over the 28 years I've been detecting, I have by far found more good targets with the Sov than any other...

    Best gold beach detector?

You can use a clad dime, quarter or copper penny as they all read the same. (550) I use a 180 meter myself. It's a lot less jumpy. If I had the 550 meter, I would do the 180 conversion on it. Just my personal preference. :)

    Interesting find

Very cool find! I like finding unique stuff like that.

Couple of finds from yesterday's Hudson River hunt...

Your guess is as good as mine! I've been pounding it HARD now for over 20 years and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The sand bank is really BAD here. It's littered with big iron, coal clinkers and pieces of brick since it is in close proximity to a couple of old brickyards. Depth of detection is...

Couple of finds from yesterday's Hudson River hunt...

Managed a 1942 Wheat, knife blade, lead seal and an interesting spoon from the Hotel Pennsylvania (in New York City). I did a little research as I had never heard of it and found out it was built in 1919 and is in the process of currently being demolished. Some wild info about it in Wikapedia. I...

Who thinks that settings make any difference.

It's actually red. In the pic it looks pinkish. That's Ron's 180 meter.

    Show your SOV pride!

Awfully quiet around here and it's been a month since any activity so what gives? Is everyone out hunting with their faithful Sovs? I sure hope so...I thought it would be fun to post pics of our current Sov set ups, especially the modified ones. I'll start with a couple pics of my beloved XS...

Here's a couple...The 2nd pic shows how light and nicely balanced out it is. :)

Hunt that started lousy ended up pretty decent!

Believe it or not, I've been hunting it for over 20 years! There's obviously still some stuff I've missed. This area used to be used for a Boy's/Girls Scout camp back in the 30s-50s. :)

Hunt that started lousy ended up pretty decent!

So I headed over to the park today and started the hunt finding nothing but a park attendant in a golf cart telling me I can't dig here! He looked all of 17 yrs old and it was the 1st time I've ever been approached. I was like "Ummmm, I've been hunting here over 20 years and never once had a...

Who thinks that settings make any difference.

Oh believe me, I couldn't swing it in the stock configuration it originally came in! That's why I have mine pimped out on an Anderson carbon fiber straight rod with the control box mounted way back under the elbow. It balances out about as well as my Legend with the LG15 coil. I don't even feel...
