    Delta 4000.........Finds 1947 s wheatie......

Okay folks, not my first rodeo but just got a Delta 4000. I was trying to upload photos of my first hunt in my "well hunted out yard" but have not been able to do so. I'll figure that out later. Have been detecting for about 10 years now. Own the First BH I ever bought, Ace 250, Tesoro Compadre...

Question about detecing in saturated ground...

Was just wondering if anyone else has run into this before? Have had the Compadre with 8" coil for a little over 2 years now. About 2 weeks ago I noticed it had become quite "chatty" at the lower discrimination settings. I can turn the dicrimination up, and it helps but it still tends to be a...

    Blacksmithing........

Got into this about 8 months ago. Since then I have built 3 forges, 2 of them coal/charcoal and one that runs on propane. The picture is a leaf I made that started out as a piece of 1/2" square steel. I have made a number of tools and decortive items. Like metal detecting this can become an all...

Got my first bracelet and button with the Compadre.....

Out at the inlaws farm last weekend and got in the first "serious" hunt of the year. Still trying to learn the sounds of the Compadre and was playing around a bit with the disrimination settings just to see how the machine would react. The bracelet is just an aluminum ID type, on the back it has...

    Compadre headphone question.....

Which headphones are the best for use with the Compadre? I don't think my cheapie phones that I have been using on my other multi tone detectors do the nuances of the single tone justice. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Jeff

    Finally broke down........

and picked up the "pro pointer". Made the trip to the local (is 50+ miles round trip local?) hobby store and picked one up. Have been using the HF ones for a while with no complaints but felt it was time to upgrade. Air tests, as they are, look good. Only time will tell.

    Picture of indian head penny

So, as promised here is a pic of the penny, front side only as I am still shaking from my oldest coin find ever! This after about 1 hour with the Compadre. I wish I had picked one of these along time ago.............

All I have to say about the Compadre...........

Is WOW, for the price you cannot beat this machine. Just arrived Thursday, finally got a chance to use it today. This was my first time out with it and I dug a lot of trash, excuse me, relics I should say. Expected, as I am trying to learn what the machine is telling me and am running it in "all...

Okay, so I finally did it...........

So I finally ordered a Compadre with the 8" coil. Needed something to compliment my other detector. I got the 8" coil version because the areas I hunt are fairly wide open and I hope with the larger coil it will get more depth than the 5.75" version, although if it does not thats okay. Hope it...

Question or two on silver umax

Though I am not a "newbie" on MD, I have never owned or used a Tesoro before. So I have a few, and maybe stupid, questions to ask about this detector. I have been using some of the "other guys" detectors for about 10 years, give or take. However I have noticed that most of the older coins that I...

    Ace 250 coil question

It seems that in several of the areas I hunt the older coins are down 6" and deeper. I have been able to pluck a few out of the ground with the sens cranked all of the way up however the Ace gets a little erratic at that setting. So I was thinking of picking up one of the larger than stock coils...

Got chewed out by one of the locals

This little guy was not happy with me digging in his "turf". He must have chewed me out for a solid 5 minutes. Must have thought I was stealing his winter stash of food. Normal finds, a few clad coins and the usual other stuff, nothing special.

Latest yard find with Ace 250

So the 53d was found next to the sidewalk in front on my house about 3 to 4 inches down (a couple of weeks ago, did not have camera at the time). The 1919 was found around 7 to 8 inches down.

Not sure where to ask this so............

Okay, so I finally broke down and bought a digital camera. Took photos of my latest/greatest find. go to post it and it said something like the image is too big. Okay, so I go to the digital imaging forum looking for help but all I can find are people's pictures of flowers, flags, etc...

    Compadre question

I see now that the Compadre is available with either the 5.75" coil or an 8" coil. Are the coils on this detector still "hard wired" or are they the type with a plug? Just wondering as I am thinking of getting one in the future and was trying to decide which sized coil to get with the unit...
