    Had a good day today

Hunted an old stagecoach inn site in the middle of a corn field and found the large cent and the civil war era token from Tiffin Ohio then hunter an old yard where I found the rest.

    Digging tools?

I was wondering what everyone else uses? I myself use the Lesche. I thought about trying out the Raptor because it looks like it may be a little easier to use but I hunt a lot of private yards and I think the smaller the tool the better. Not that other diggers do any damage but the perception of...

    Quantum XT question

I dug out an old Quantum XT I never used much. Cleaned it up and did a little air testing with it. I set it up so it would accept everything but only give the high tone on coins. It seems to do the opposite of what other machines I've used do. That is the meter seems more accurate than using the...

    Battery connection problem.

My etrac battery doesn't seem to want to connect a lot of times when I first slide it in. Usually I have to slide it in several times before it will turn on. I've cleaned the terminals with steel wool so I'm assuming the problem is with the connection inside the battery compartment. Should I try...

    xp deus

Anyone had a chance to compare the xp deus to the etrac. The deus seems to have a lot of great features. I've also heard it is great in iron.

    Detector to complement the etrac

No detector is perfect, not even the etrac. So I'm wondering what detector do you think would complement the etrac in the field? Maybe something that separates a little better or sweeps a little faster? I hunt mainly old homesites and fields. Not much of a beach hunter.

Probably the last hunt of the year.

Went out today for what is probably the last hunt for a while with the weather changing here. found 1 merc, 4 injuns and 1 large cent with no date. Not a bad way to end the season.

Old yards are hard to figure out.

I've hunted a lot of old yards since I got me etrac almost a year ago and I have to admit its confusing. The really nice , really old homes hardly ever produce old coins for me. I hunted one today that was almost 200 years old. A nice well kept frame home with a nice big front yard. Never been...

I have to log on each time I visit the site even if I don't go offline. My username and password are saved and I see no way in the control panel so I will be logged in automatically.

A little more nail board testing

I did a few more tests using the nail board today .Using TTF I could not get a conductive tone no matter what coil I used or which angle or sweep speed I used. Using my coin multi tone pattern I could not get a positive tone at any direction or sweep speed from the factory 11" coil. Using the...

    Nail board test???

Anyone ever try this? My etrac seems to fail miserably even using the 6X8 sef coil. http://ahrps.org/tipsandtechniques.php

A little silver and copper today

Found these in a couple old yards today.

How often do you use TTF?

Most of my hunting is done in old farm yards. I think probably 80% of my searching is done in TTF. I usually start out in multi tone and start farther away from the house and hunt that way working my way towards the house until I start getting quite a bit of nulling then I switch to TTF. I find...
