    Explorer Modification/Broken Explorer wanted!

Nice job on the mod! How do you like it now? Best of luck finding!

    Discrimination question

Yea, Chris, I am from the WWII days also. I use two patterns/modes (Explorer II). One for parks and homes: conductive tones with iron mask at 13, and for fields or really iron-infested sites I use ferrous tones and no disc. Seems to be deeper with these low or no-disc settings. Hope this helps.

    Explorer Modification/Broken Explorer wanted!

Hello TBM, I had one small bracket welded up (parts from Ace hardware) and one I fashioned out of a U-shaped piece of aluminum. Note I ground the aluminum one down a lot, into the shape that fits the control housing. Only two screws actually attach the housing (circled in red in third photo)...

    Explorer Modification/Broken Explorer wanted!

Here is how it got that way. I wanted to use a Nox carbon fiber shaft for less weight. I kept trying to design a battery box with headphone jack. I finally gave up and just cut off the handle. Worked like a charm and has stand to boot. The balance is still a little nose heavy, and the straight...

    Explorer Modification/Broken Explorer wanted!

PS I could use the battery box/handle from an E-track, Safari or obsolete Explorer. If you have a broken one of those, I'd possibly buy the battery box/handle.

    Explorer Modification/Broken Explorer wanted!

Hello, I haven't posted enough to put this on the classifieds. Hope it is okay to post here. I need the plastic battery box/handle part of an Explorer if you have one. I have modified two now and I like the second one best. Unfortunately I did not keep the extra parts from the first mod. Here...

    All Metal

Thank guys, No volume control over tones, darn. How about this: Does the CTX have "Ferrous Sounds" where Ferrous is a low tone and conductive is high? (Like the Explorer has Ferrous and Conductive sounds) Thanks - Robin

Is the CTX still a viable detector?

Hey Jamie(MI) I'm wondering where you are in MI? I am in Watervliet (near Kalamazoo). Wondering if we could hook up and I could swing your CTX (before I get one). Only if we're close. Thanks - Robin

Having fun playing with my new/used CTX

I had a very shallow memorial hit that I'm glad I dug - it was a 5" two cent and a seated dime.

Having fun playing with my new/used CTX

Thanks! I tried the F75 years back and when I used it, I felt like I wanted to use the Explorer in stead, every time. I gave it a fair shake, found some stuff, but sold it. I just gave my Excalibur 1000 to my son. It is five pounds and feels like swinging lead. Poorly balanced though. Can't help...

    All Metal

Hello, I'm a long time Explorer II user, and hunt in basically two modes. 1. Conductive with just iron mask of 13, and 2. Ferrous with no discrimination. Is there a "Ferrous tones" on the CTX (non-ferrous high tones, ferrous low tones)? I heard on one of the many videos that you can adjust the...
