    gold test kit advice

18k won't corrode but I've found 10k that really looked bad.

18 k acid will turn silver on your scratch stone a white milky color. I don't use silver acid anymore. Try it you'll like it.

How to reduce the drag of a water detector

Really. I'm 76 years old and have no problem water hunting for 6 or 7 hours. Hunting in the dry sand is another story.

    43 wheaties in 3 1/2 hours

I went back to wheat penny beach and got a small 14k ring, a apple watch and 67 more wheaties in the wet sand. Nothing from the water.

    43 wheaties in 3 1/2 hours

That's a possibility. I've hunted there quite a bit and never found more than 1 or 2 wheaties. I've got enough wheat pennies now. I just need more gold. LOL

Probably in a 200 foot strip of a horseshoe about 12 foot wide. I only got a little over $2 in clad.

    43 wheaties in 3 1/2 hours

I hunted the wet sand today where another hunter said that he got over 200 wheat pennies in 1 day. They were ringing up at 12-43 which is usually a dime on the CTX. Most were 2 to 3 big scoops deep and it kicked my ass. The most I've ever got before on a hunt is 3. I can't wait until it calms...

    ??

It's been pretty rough in my area lately so I haven't been able to get in the water much. Today wasn't too rough so I took the CTX out for 6 hours and hunted in the swells. It was pretty murky and I could barely see the coil with my mask and snorkel but I did get a 14k pendant with tiny diamonds...

    Dimes

Yes, I'd sooner spend my time digging for gold. Like Beechnut, I also get a lot of nickels. I really don't care for silver rings either so I'll skip quarters too. It's called gold fever. Before I started detecting I didn't really care much about jewelry but now I always notice when people are...

    Dimes

I think lots of hunters don't dig dimes. I won't dig em if I'm using my CTX.

Looking for a backup wet sand machine

I don't have a nox but I used one for a very short time. It's super light but coil heavy. My friend has one and he added a 4 inch extension with some lead to the top of the shaft. It made a world of difference. Give it a try and I think you'll like it.
