18 Musket Balls in 1 Hole!

I haven't been finding much to write home about the last few months but today made up for it. Went to one of my fields where the farmer said they tilled up 2 Revolutionary War cannon balls decades ago. It's a massive field and I've been slowly covering it and digging everything.

Got a signal near where I found a dandy button and though it might be another button. Dug the hole and was shocked to see a musket ball. Go back over the hole and get same signal so get pinpointer back in and another one and another and another! It was absolutely insane and they were close to a foot deep.

Great find on the 18 round balls in the same hole. Years ago back in Atlanta, my hunting buddy and I was hunting ground where we were finding relics both Union and Confetrit'. It had been raining and the ground was pretty wet. We were hunting I believe in early February. My Pard motioned me over to where he had dug a pretty deep hole. The ground was mud/slush and the bottom of the whole had filled with water. I looked down and spotted a few white lead balls in the mud. I picked them out and my buddy said shoot the mud with you coil, it's full of lead. I did, and he was right, the detector went crazy. Watch this he said, he would reach down in the hole and bring a big clod of mud up, and you could see white lead. Long story short, he recovered 45 dropped 58 cal. 3 ring minnie' balls from this one hole. We got excited thinking like you did that maybe he had found a cartridge box, but nothing else was found other than the bullets. My buddy was in the service at the time and had to go back. About 2 weeks later I returned to the same spot after the weather had dried up a bit. I shot around the outer edge of the hole and found 15 more of the same, dropped 3 ring minnie balls. We figured maybe this soldiers ammunition had gotten set and these were discarded after being reissued new ammunition. I have never been able to do this again. That was a great find on the round balls. Hit this area hard and take your time. There's bound to be more cool relics there. Best of luck to you and Well Done on Saving some History.

Those are real old for sure. Back in the 90s I dug 2 musket balls at Given Ferry State Park just outside of Summerville SC. They were white like yours are. Park ranger figured the ones I found were revolutionary. Congratulations!
