About 4 hours of hunt time and notice the rust stains on 4 of the 6 silver coins. Also got a "naked" 1909 wheaty  Nothing very deep but several coins had nails in close proximity to them..... On a side note I had a local politician who was campaigning door to door stop and talk a spell.He...

Spent 10 hours Friday cross checking infield targets with my E-Trac and Dr Bob's CTX

Bob and I went on a all day hunt Friday and I left my CTX in the trunk the whole trip  and used my E-Trac in coins mode while Bob ran his CTX in the same.We went to some public sites we had hit hard over the last two years just to give us a fair test. Every target good or bad that either...

Am I alone in suspecting the right angle phone plugs may be the culprit ???

Now may be a great time to pick up a good used E-Trac

I figure because a lot of folks will be selling their E-Trac to help fund the new CTX 3030. Keep your eyes open and you should be able to get a great deal on a great machine.I figure if I get the new Minelab I will keep my E-Trac as it has paid for its self several times over in our 3+ year...

What I think of the new Detech Ultimate 13" coil after several hunts in the field.

First let me say I payed full price plus extra shipping to get this coil and am in no way connected to any dealers or manufacturers of said coil. I have been using a certain 12x13 coil for quite a while with spectacular result but was not happy with it's substantial weight increase over the...

The results of several hunts with the Deus .....

I mostly relic hunted as can be seen by the pictures.I put in about 8 hours coin hunting and about twice as many at my CW site that is a carpet of square nails resulting from over 40 buildings/houses being burned to the ground during the CW. It is like a laser in the heavy nails and will hit...

Anyone else notice the ID #s go up on the very deep coins???

I have found that in my soil a silver dime over 8" will read 97,98 most of the time in any frequency.Deep square nails hit the same in the 3 highest frequency but only hit/sound good one way and good targets sound good most directions. I have also come to the conclusion that the Deus is the...

What is the general consensus on the use of "relic shovels" at public sites???

I realize that a very clean plug can be dug with the proper use of a sharp relic shovel and a very poor plug can be dug with a pocket knife by an uncaring detectorist. So what I am wondering is does the public perceptions of we detectorist carrying/using a relic type shovel matter if a...
