Sov and Nellie found a sterling silver bracelet tonight!

Really loving the 12X13 NEL Tornado coil on my Sov lately. I've also recently gone wireless with the Garrett Z-Lynk set up and love that as well. Tonight's hour and a half hunt down at the Hudson River yielded a "Danecraft Sterling" bracelet, a 1924 Merc dime, a trashed Washington nickel, a 1926...

    How old constitutes Vintage anyway?

Thanks for the clarification. Guess I'll go 10 more years with my trusty ole' Sovereign! :)

    Help me choose a pinpointer.

I also use this pinpointer and LOVE it! I like the fact that it only detects off the tip and doesn't need to go 3 or 4" deep. I always find what I'm looking for with it, a MUST have! HH George

Hey guys, you know what I just realized?

I just realized that the detector technology in my main detector (Minelab Sovereign XS) is now 30 years old! It was basically unchanged through all the Sovereign iterations from 1991-2005. The XS that I currently swing is about 25-27 yrs old but the technology it uses is 30 yrs old now! I wonder...

    How old constitutes Vintage anyway?

The reason I ask is because I just realized that the detector technology in my main detector (Minelab Sovereign XS) is now 30 years old! 2 Sov. Coils.

In my opinion the Tornado coil is better because it's a lot lighter. Just keep in mind there were issues with the sheathing coating peeling from the wires. If yours doesn't have the issue, it would be the only coil I use along with the 8" CoinSearch coil which is my all time favorite.

I'm cheating on my Sov XS with another detector...

Just curious to know if any of you Sov users have also tried the Nokta/Makro Simplex? While it won't replace my Sov, it is the PERFECT supplemental companion to my Sov for sure! I went for the Spring special 2-coil package and couldn't be happier for the money spent. I know this is a...

    Well...I took the plunge!

Nice Jim! Congrats on the finds. Glad you're liking the Simplex, hope I like it as well. HH George

    Good to know, thanks Jim!

    Well...I took the plunge!

After a lot of research, I just couldn't pass up the two coil deal on this machine for $339! Seems like a real steal. I needed a good metered trash machine to compliment my Minelab Sovereign XS with the 12X13 NEL coil on it. I'm a long time Sovereign user but I know it's limitations and I don't...

SovXS & NELLIE nabbed me a Walking Half!

I'm loving this new NEL coil so much, I named her Nellie LOL. Another 90 minute hunt on the Hudson River nabbed me some more silver in the form of a "63 Roosie, "51 Washington, 3 crusty wheats and this little gem: a 1944 walking liberty half! This one means a lot to me because I just lost my...

A "Christmas Tree" of finds tonight

Went down to my favorite Hudson River site for about an hour and a half with the new NEL Tornado 12X13 coil. The Sov seems to really mesh well with this coil for hunting on this freshwater beach. I'll be doing a separate post reviewing this coil as it certainly deserves it's own post. Needless...

Anyone swinging a NEL Tornado 12X13 on their Sov or Excal?

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated! George

Anyone swinging a NEL Tornado 12X13 on their Sov or Excal?

I needed a waterproof beach coil to go with my 8" CoinSearch and I figured this would make a good 2-coil combo for my Sov XS. The Coinsearch is actually pretty good in the trash only being 7 1/4" actual size so i figured the 12X13 would get me the extra depth of a larger coil as well. Got a...

This old dog can still hunt!

Yeah the detector is almost 25 yrs old! Pretty amazing when you consider how the Sovereign has held it's own with all the "new" technology out there.
