Help with raised Number brass button/tag/disk whatsit?

Anyone got an idea what this is? I found it on a site that has military relics from 1850 or so, but I don't think it is military. The numbers are pretty stylized. The item is brass, and it is cast. The numbers are raised. The edges are not completely rounded over, but there is a "lip" edge...

Help! Looking for a Draft Horse shoe to give to an elderly lady

Howdy ya'll! Gitterdug here. I have a request, and this seems like the forum to make it. I know a lady here in the area where I live. She had a Draft horse shoe, for luck, until she got divorced, and her ex stole the thing and threw it in a pond. Now I wouldn't think that to be a big thing...

    Re-introduction.......Kuletule is now gitterdug....

Not that it matters to the vast majority on here, but to my friends, after all these years, my kuletule moniker is now gitterdug on here. Kuletule got corrupted on my email accounts, and I thought, well, why not just change it on here to a more detector-centric name. Gitterdug is so...

    I believe in Jesus!

I believe in Jesus. Why? Because of the reliable testimony of many many peoples who were there. I believe in the Spirit of Santa Claus. Why? Because, as surely as December 25th rolls around, presents have appeared around my christmas tree since I was a child. I believe in Truth. Why...

    Ahhhhhh, Does it EVER End????!!!!?

When I started this wonderful hobby, 38 years ago, BFOs were the most prevalent detector out there. I remember when I found my very first coin, with my Garrett BFO (no discrimination at all), it was a 1935 Buffalo Nickel, on a school playground. That was in January 1974. I remember thinking

Went to the Barber today, 2 times, 9 silver day!

I went to a house built in 1851 today, in the middle of town. It was for the women's league. I called the president, and she said the house belonged to the city. I went to the police department and asked if they had any ordinances against metal detecting on city property. The officer said...
