    Short hunt at the park gives up another IH penny.

    The IH's minted after 1864 sound about like zinc pennies. I think the VDI is low 50 to mid 50's and the early IH's (fatties) hit with a VDI in the high 20's or 30.

    Hadn't hunted long and the park guys started mowing the area I was in. I went across the road to get out of their way and was glad I did. Found this IH penny on the way back to the car. I'm going back to the park later after the mowing is finished.

    Must unusual coin find with my E-Trac.

    V3 and /or ML Etrac- - - -?? I don't recall seeing anything conserning the difference between the two regarding the weight:shrug:

    If you want to drive up my way sometime, I'll let you try both. I don't think there is much weight difference in the Spectra and the E-Trac . The Spectra is better balanced but I have no problem with either one. In case you don't remember, I'm north of I-70 about 30 miles on the Ind/Ohio line.

    I would say they are intimidated by what they see as the complexity of the Spectra. They look at all the parameters that can be changed and think there is no way I can learn this. I had doubts myself the first few hours but after about 8hrs things got better. Still have a long way to go but...

    Humor me, Why do I need to hear Threshold?

    I like a threshold tone because it lets me know when I pass my coil over a very deep target or one just outside the edge of the coil's search area.

    When it hit the penny for him I took the detector back and tried it myself and it worked well. I tried different sweep speeds when I was using multi-tine ID but I won't say that might not be the problem. I was swinging it about like I do my MXT.
