    Small coil choice?

When I had my Sov 15 years ago, I had a sunray 5.5" coil, and it was great. I do not like the prices they are going for today. Has anyone used some of the other aftermarket small coils with good success? I see there are 5" round, also a 4.5 x 7" out there that are affordable. Appreciate any tips

I no longer dig many alum screw caps anymore.

They tend to read at 82-83, same as the zinc cents. But I have noticed that the zinc cents usually darken the "pie chart " from 25 -50%, where as the aluminum caps, usually show no or little darkening of the pie. I did get fooled by one cap today, as the pie was 25% dark, with the 82-83...

What about a racer type detector , but with a lower frequency?

I'm just wondering out loud if a 7-8 freq machine would be a better coin hunter vs the 14-15Khz freq? Maybe not so sensitive to small trash, and more sensitive to coins, possibly deeper, and maybe better in mineralized dirt? Would love to hear the experts opinions.

First run with my new F70

I played around it a bit in my test garden first. I had an omega 4 years ago, and a T2 last year, so I'm somewhat familiar with these badboys. I went to the local park, near an area where the saddle club has a riding area. There was one area that was loaded with trash, I hit that area first...

Went to the park for clad, brought home a barbie!:bouncy:

I had to run to town to the auto parts store, figured I'd get in some detecting time, at a trashy park, so I grabbed the T2. Figured I'd find a little clad to offset my gas into town. We had 2" of rain the other day , so the soil was perfect. I started next to the tot lot border, found a few...
