    Another 1/2 Real

I got home from Church at 6:15 pm and had a couple of hours of daylight to hunt. I went back to the pasture on our place here in Mississippi where I found a Spanish 1 bit piece and a 1/2 Real earlier this year. I had found a couple of flat buttons and it had gotten dark so I headed back to the...

Thought it was gonna be just another clad day

I had a couple of hours to hunt before I picked up my wife and boys at the airport so I headed over to an old private school academy in my home town. I had been hunting for about an hour and a half and had found the usual clad and a couple of wheats. I had just dug a couple of Lincoln memorials...

    Clad, Ring, and a Medallion

Hunted a private school academy today. Got the usual clad (including a Kennedy half), a ring, and a St. Christopher medallion.

    Clad and a silver ring

Hunted for 2 hours in a vacant lot next to a Church downtown this morning. Got a handful of clad and a silver ring. By 9:30 am the heat and humidity were getting tough so I called it quits. Got to go back when I can work more slowly and check for deeper targets.

    Null disadvantage?

I have read differing opinions on whether or not operating with some discrimination limits the ability of the Etrac to unmask non-ferrous targets near iron. I sent the following email to Minelab. If I get a response I will post it here. Maybe someone has already asked this question to Minelab...

Response Long - Anybody using this settng?

Tried response LONG over a deep test garden coin. I was impressed how I could just hover over the coin and get a sweet tone. I know that a LONG response is going to elongate falses and trash target tones as well, but I'm gonna give it a try. Anybody had any luck using this setting?

    Pasture Finds

Found these 3 small things using ferrous 2 tone open screen today. I had previously spent some serious time detecting the nail infested pasture site these came from. Going very slowly I eeked these out amongst the nails. Don't know what the item between the thimble and the flat button is...

    Iron null while pinpointing

Many of you have probably watched the following video. It appears the Etrac nulls out over the nail when in pinpoint mode, yet does pinpoint the ring. This would appear to be quite a useful feature. I know the Etrac will pinpoint iron but in the presence of a non-ferrous object it appears it...

    Sensitivity-Auto vs Manual

I have a dime buried at approximately 8" that I have been practicing on with my Etrac. Yesterday in Auto sensitivity +3 the reading on the left bar was 26. In this mode it takes fairly brisk (quick) sweeps to hit the dime. When I go to Manual sensitivity and set it to 26 I can pick up the dime...

    Advantage of Multi Tones?

I've never hunted using multi tone audio before I got the Etrac. I seem to be doing ok with it, but I wonder what the real advantage is. It may be hard to put in words, but could someone attempt to explain what they listen for in terms of telling a good target from a bad target or a target...

More buttons and a jaw harp

I continue to be impressed with the Etrac's ability to signal on non-ferrous targets amongst iron. The site I found these on has a heavy iron burden ( mostly square nails). Playing a Jaw Harp

Tones and ID on a deep target

Been practicing with my Etrac on a clad dime I buried at 9". I am running manual sensitivity at 28, deep off, fast off, trash low (clean ground around test coin), difficult ground, normal tones, variability 25. I am getting loud tones but they are a little lower than usual for a dime. The CO...

3 more buttons with the new Etrac

Went back to the pasture this afternoon. Summer is definitely here in the south. Got 3 more buttons. The one at the top is a tombac. One of the buttons was next to a deep null when I first located it. In fact when I pinpointed, the pinpoint location was about 6" away from where I was getting the...

New Etrac - 1st Time Out A Couple of Flat Buttons

Got my new Etrac today and was able to hunt a pasture on our place that has produced a few good finds in the past. Only hunted a couple of hours. Ran a screen with everything below 30 Fe blacked out. Auto sensitivity +3 (it was showing 25). -Fast on, Deep off, high trash, difficult ground...

    Silver and a new friend

You did a great job with that video. Nice work and congratulations on the finds.

Soon to be Etrac Owner - Pulltabs Discrimination Question

Etrac on order so been reading manual, this forum, watching videos and working with the emulator. On the emulator I selected the minelab coins mode. Then I added pulltab rejection by using the combine feature and pulling pulltabs (rejected) onto the screen. I am using the Etract_usa_coins.zip...

Richard at Backwoods Detectors and soon to be Etrac user

Hi to all. First post on this forum from a "soon to be" Etrac owner. After much deliberation, I decided to order a new Etrac last night, and placed the order through Richard at Backwoods Detectors. I ordered through Richard largely based on the positive comments I had seen about him on the...

No silver, but good to get out on a beautiful spring day

Hunted an old swimming pool site in the community I grew up in. No one lives there anymore and the pool site is filled in and sodded over. Had to run my F75 LTD in JE mode, sens 40 due to overhead power lines. 4 clad quarters (oldest 1967), a clad dime, 28 pre 1982 memorials, and 2 wheats...

    New Coin Hunter

Been a Civil War relic hunter all my life. Took up coin hunting when I got my F75-LTD about a month and a half ago. Here's what I've found so far. No silver...yet.

    Bullets and a Wheat Cent

Got out this afternoon with my F75 LTD. Hunted a Union campsite I have been hunting for years with my old 1265X. There was a particularly trashy part of the campsite I tried to hunt several times but always gave up due to the extreme iron and rusty nail burden in the ground. This trashy ground...
