    Dry loose dirt = not much depth!

    Hello guys................Let's see if a bit of logical / scientific thinking can illuminate matters. Firstly, Do you have access to an Fisher F75? If not, are you proficient enough with your Whites Spectra, to acquire some ground readings? The obvious idea is to determine the mineralisation...

    Hey Jules...

    [/color] ***************************************************************************************************************** Hi there JB..... I recommend that you take good note of Eric's advice re the Etrac's 12-46 signals. The Jewel in the crown for the Minelab Etrac,is its ability to...

    explain "normalize"

    Hi there DD. Normalise.........'the meaning of ',.... hopefully without over complicating matters.... In the case of metal detecting and VDI's for specific targets, coins are a typical standard because of their regular shape, dimensions and metals / alloys. White's, many years ago, generally...

    Ok I am about to give up on my Vision at the beach.

    Jason, before anyone can make a guess at what may be causing your problem, we need some data regarding your program. Obviously, on wet sand you should be using Salt mode. Now can you tell us what your ground phase was, or balance figure. Next, sensitivities, all of them. Do you get any...

    V3 in dry sand..........A 'ripper'.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hi Mick..........Hammered coins.....early coins created in silver and gold, by the method of embossing a disc of the metal, placed between two engraved dies, by hammering one die against the other via the disc.

    V3 in dry sand..........A 'ripper'.

    [b]My mate and I have been delving into the handbook and tuning up the Whites V3, so yesterday evening it was time to take it for a serious walk-about. The manual has a need for improvement.................. Apart from the obvious appetite for particular crown-caps, it devoured any of the lost...

    V3 settings for UK Roman coins

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Delta.....Whites detectors are NOT made in Inverness, Scotland.....They are all imported from the USA.

    I have a question.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi there Dave. Depth loss?...................Depth loss on what????? There is no depth loss due to rejecting the hearing / seeing of # 56. Discrimination is about you choosing to not allow your V3 to inform you that it...
    Some info
    22 KHz will give you more apparent sensitivity to items, but that is only true if ground conditions allow, and the target is of a certain dimensions, etc. A silver Eagle dollar will be detected more deeply by 2.5 KHz, in poor soil, than by 22 KHz..........food for thought??
    For Carl and the programmers to look at.
    Terry, your request is possible to create by software modification, BUT don't you think that you are forgetting the realities of metal detecting? VDI numbers are a product (or summation) of several factors. For example, ' a gold thing' can have many VDI values, from say, 4 to 40, depending on...
    Is White's addressing the EMI problem. What are there fixes for the problem??? Thanks :D: :D:
    Hello again folks. Thinking about the annoying problems of EMI. I recall my early writings about the DFX, and I wander if someone may care to check this idea out if they encounter EMI interference. Try CORRELATE. Absolute depth may be reduced, but then that is also true if you have to turn...
    Is White's addressing the EMI problem. What are there fixes for the problem??? Thanks :D: :D:
    Hi there Tinfoil.... Over here in the UK, initial usage reveals no particular problems with EMI. By definition, EMI is an external source of interference which is usually location specific. Any broadband search head/detector is vulnerable to some interference, so you have to be aware of the...
    ground moisture and mixed mode
    Hello Deepy. Has someone been fiddling with the mixed-mode program...........? You have proved that another program gives the right results, so reload the original copy of Relic and check again. Help me if you will, "What is a high iron reading"? High tone? High VDI ? Some numbers...
    What VDI's Does a 14K tennis braclet come in at?
    It may seem a daft question, but what detector will you be searching with? A Vision, DFX, XLT, Spectrum.....then set your ACCEPT VDI's as low as ZERO. Minelab EXPs and Etrac, Iron mask out Fe35 to Fe 27 and leave the CON open down to 1. USE Fe audio mode, with 4 Tones. AUTO SENS with an...
    Humor me, Why do I need to hear Threshold?
    Hi there Bud! There are a few reasons why a threshold can be of some use. (A) It helps to stop you falling asleep, if finds are few. (B) It reminds you that your detector is still working! (C) Relic hunting and reconnoitering, the nulling on 'rejected' items is an 'inverse' sign of probable...
    My Pulltab with the Spectra V3
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello Bob. Regarding the VDI value of eight, for the white gold, 14k stamped ring. The style of the ring lends itself to being a lower VDI than a plain band of the same carat and dimensions, but it suggests...

    Jumped out between the rain

    One of my favourite Nat King Cole songs is, "Here comes that rainy day". Maybe you've heard of it? It could become your theme tune now that you Have a Vision/V3....Well done Tab. Best wishes for some more rainy days.............TheMarshall

    STILL CONFUSED ???????

    Thanks Dave for your comments. Of course my post was a critical one, but I also hoped that it may induce a positive outcome in as much as anyone not familiar with forum facilities such as archive searching, may take note. You only made comment on the tone of the post, but not the substance...

    STILL CONFUSED ???????

    Hi there... I am feeling a little bit 'miffed' with the level of SOME postings, not only regarding the V3, but also the E-Trac. The laziness of some new owner (not necessarily new detectorists), is frustrating. They want to sit back and simply be spoon fed like children. Helping others is...

    E-Trac and GARRETT do the business........TheMarshall

    Last Sunday was a beautiful Spring day here in the UK. Here was a typical but more 'difficult' E-Trac target. A Victorian half penny at about 9 inches, but situated vertically at the side of the hole. The E-Trac had no problems alerting me to this one, even whilst running in AUTO sense...
