    Hey thanks for taking the time to reply. I actually really do like it so far. I'm a novice user maybe bordering on kind of intermediate? I obviously don't have you depth of knowledge or expertise. My 2 other detectors were a Bounty Hunter and a Whites. But I haven't detected in about 13 years...

    That's a hot take, especially on the Simplex section of this forum. I would love to know why you feel that way, and what machine you'd recommend. I mean this from a genuine place of curiosity. I have A Simplex, but have had other machines. Would honestly like to hear your thoughts.

    Stupid me didn't even catch the fact that you were talking about the Impact. Apologies. My old White's had a trigger pinpointer and I loved it. Much easier to use than the one on my Simplex.

    I've not encountered what they're talking about AT ALL in 2.78, so I can't speak to which mode it happens in reliably. I've seen noticeable improvements (for me) going to 2.78. It just feels more stable, less annoyingly chattery. No loss of depth. Pinpointer is working again. Oddly enough...

    No. The depth is the same. The sensitivity is the same. The only difference is that deeper targets MAY give you a tone only, and no VDI number. I've yet to see that, and I have about 12 hours on 2.78, and about 35 hours on the machine overall. 2.78 fixed the pinpointing problem I was having...

    Thanks, Coinboy. I've been seeing more people on different channels that are having problems. But some are not. I'm hoping the 2.78 will help, but also need to get to the bottom of what 2.78 does before I upgrade to it. I've been hearing conflicting reports about it.

    Does the Simplex (or any detector really) have a setting that keeps track of usage hours?

    I'd love to keep a running tally of hours I've used the Simplex (but keep it secret from my wife ;)). Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this feature on any detector, and if it's possible, maybe it can be added to a future upgrade?
