    Prayer Request

He was stationed at Lejeune, but beginning in Aug '88 and until the 3rd Marines were sent to Desert Storm. The 'cut off' date for the class action suit was Dec. '87...so he was denied participation. A Toxicologist friend of ours is convinced he came into contact with something in Kuwait...

things every detectorists should have with them...

Thank you, Blind Squirrel. I wasn't aware of using a stun gun for venomous bites. Very informative!! Thanks again. Only thing I can add, try pet flea collars around the ankles for wooded areas with potential for 'Chiggers' and or 'ticks'. HH (y)

things every detectorists should have with them...

Kevlar helmet, flak jacket, cameo shirt and pants. MOST IMPORTANT - Prepared/memorized statement..."Folks remain at your own risk. I am here to locate and remove Land Mines". Once the site is cleared...proceed to detect undisturbed. ;)

    Equinox detectors (?)

Minelab user here (Etrac and Vanquish) but I am curious about the Equinox product. Asking this site...what (in your personal opinion) makes the Equinox a "better than most" detector. My biggest curiosity centers around detector weight and complexity. Other considerations = ID accuracy...

    Discrimination

My understanding (good/bad ??) try setting discrimination as high as possible for depth...back off if/when the "chatter" is too loud or over powering. Chatter can be intense if the location has an abundance of rusty iron, foil and or alum can slaw. Another bad area can be where there is or was...

    Banning of metal detecting

Never understood places like State parks that are adamant about Native American items (EX-arrow heads) lying on the surface are to be left undisturbed. "DO NOT TOUCH" and God forbid if you pick it up as if the original owner is coming back for it. Do understand "No Digging" on State...

    X-Terra Pro vs. Vanquish 440?

Used my 440 today. Old baseball field. Picked up some clad...all dated in the 80's and most were around 8 or 9 inches deep. Still amazes me how accurate it ID's the target...I'm so old, I don't dig pennies or nickels anymore...just dimes and quarters. Get a ring every once in a while. Only...

    X-Terra Pro vs. Vanquish 440?

Good...(no)...valid point(s). With the Etrac, I grew tired of wondering whether I EVER had the right settings for the location, mineralogy, electrostatic???, soil conditions, sensitivity, tone, ??? etc., etc. PLUS finally realized I could hunt longer with a lighter machine. The weight and...
