Last hole just before dark makes the day!

Every week I've been checking on the level of a lake I've been hitting. Before I left town I stopped at a sand volleyball court that is used by ESPN. One of the grounds keepers came over and shared stories of detecting around town. He's got a whites and related about the coinage they found when...

Silver hat trick or pipe dream...?

Only had a short hunt of about an hour and 40 today but I went with a plan to try and coax some silver out of a public place that seems to have dried up. There is one relativly small area that has been the only area of the park I seem to find any silver. Many coins in the 6" - 8" range. I've...

    Tracking causes noisy operation

I've had my V3i for just over 3 years and the longer I stay with it the more I enjoy it. I had a good understanding of the XLT / DFX and what each fuction did and any cross effect to other settings. I think this made my transition much easier. What I did way back after reading the threads on...

A couple of slim pickings from this week

Finds from this week minus the pile of clad, numerous wheats (except the '09) and plenty of misc items I wasn't motivated to picture. The Masonic Penny and unidentified copper discs came from turf. The rest were slim pickings from this lowered natural lake that has a dam under repair I'm...

Garrett 9x12" concentric - any user opinions? Plz comment.

I've been very happy with my ATPro and have enjoyed using the stock and 8x5" DD coils. I'd like to know if anyone has used both large coils regularly and thieir findings. I'm familiar with user opinions of the aftermarket NEL coils. I'm interested if there are any real gains in depth tedting in...

    VDI Tone 0

Zero tone or silent on the rejected numbers worked well in my test area, but it will take getting used to it. I'll probably like it most of the time in the field. I sometimes use mixed mode stereo as a way of knowing everything by tone without having to look at the display. Also the default...

    Shovel

The serrations are better to have than to find yourself wishing you had then to get to your target in the roots. I use the predator raven model 25 and the Sampson. That little Sampson stays in my trunk full time do I'm never without it should the need arise.

    SILVER FROM LAST 2 MONTHS

That's a nice haul from schoolyards! Among the first places (and parks) to get whacked by most detectorists .congrats! HH - Bruce

    VDI Tone 0

When the software engineer says such, it's a great tip. Just finished setting my V3i up to zero tones for all negative numbers and the entire VDI range -95 to +95 is accepted. I had it set to standard tones with everything accepted through -30. Rejected range -31 through -95. Looking forward to...

Wednesday's keepers & a first for my hunting partner :clapping:

Finds from Wednesday. Same lake I've been hitting lately. My stepson Casey led us to what was supposed to be another old area frequented for swimming. It is still currently used and we found mostly clad. I attributed the lack of wheat cents and the like to that fact. People are going to hunt...

Beating a nearly dead horse till it spits silver:crylol:

Driving the 40+ miles for the fourth time to go over the same spot I wondered out loud if I was really just beating a nearly dead horse. Maybe it was the combination of previous finds and beautiful autumn colors that ringed the lake made me think even if nothing turns up I could still have a...

    Found V3i Nirvana!

Fantastic! Congrats on wining the low conductor jackpot! I've had my V3i for 3 years now and have gotten to where I'm comfortable with it and it's adjustability is not overwhelming at all, just part of its charm. It's so good at hunting as you describe, looking for the good$. Glad you are...

Back to Tuesday's honey hole with different tech produces expected results.

Yesterday I went back to the site of Tuesday's finds. The good signals had faded from the patch we pounded by the time we left. In fact almost all signal were gone. I had a pocket full of foil and bits of crap when left that day. Now since it was a sandy and soft bottom I put my "second layer"...

Tuesday's ATPro finds in Today's Finds - GREAT DAY

In a lowered lake tuesday I was with two others and the ATPro took everyone to school. My stepson was using his ACE 250, and his uncle a Bounty Hunter. Everyone found silver coins and jewelry and made a good showing. My ATP was finding coins (walkers & quarters) to easily 9" and I had two jumpy...

    Woohoo! I killed it yesterday!

Well for me, this is a great day day of detecting. What a difference a week makes. Back to where I found two "Mercs" and the .925 chain last week. Previously my stepson had gained permission from one property owner he works with at the prison to park on his property for access the lake. There...

    1 Big copper & a little silver

No date Large Cent dug in a 20th century urban park. Other finds are from a slightly lowered lake. HH- Bruce

Hey friends, I didn't fall off the earth and I'm out digging :detecting:

These are most of the better finds from the last 3 weeks, think I omitted one more Washington silver quarter and a "merc". I've been mostly absent from the forums & social media since early June. Not much to report as I had issues requiring 2 of my 3 dedicated water units had to be sent out...

    first 1700's coin and others

Congrats! One of my favorite finds are CT & other state coppers. Yours looks pretty good, not fertilized tand the off center strike gives it more character. HH - Bruce

Another trip to my muck hole puts the ATP to work

Finds from yesterday - another Wednesday and another little piece of bling. I do mean little, at 1/2 pennyweight - approx .7 gram, (point seven) tiny. Back to the same mud hole I've been hammering for months. I get surprised by the odd stuff that turns up there. I know this lake will be...
