    TM808 questions

I bought a new TM808 with the cave mode about 15 years ago. I have never used it but now have a chance to search for a cache someone thinks might be on their property. If the cache is a mason jar at say 1 foot deep how wide should I make my passes walking back and forth. Also will the TM808...

How would a mason jar read on the Etrac.

Lets just say there may be a mason jar buried with coins in it with the lid facing up. How would you think this would readout on the display. I know early lids were made of zinc before they went to steel.

    Question on tone ID's

I am planning on having a CTX by spring. I have an etrac now and use TTF the majority of the time. I am looking forward to the tone id bins on the CTX. Does anyone use lower tones for coins instead of the high tones and having ferrous items high tones. Twenty years ago I was using a Garrettt...

A question for owners of both the Etrac and CTX

I have been detecting for over 30 years and have had some of the top detectors of several leading brands. I was always thinking there was a better detector out there than what I had and I finally found it this spring when I bought a used Etrac. This is a fantastic detector. I have the X-5 and...

I recently found my best coin of several years of hunting.

I found this 1918/17D Buffalo nickel about a month ago but wanted to wait till I had a professional look at it. The Great Plains Coin Show was in Sioux Falls this weekend with several dealers from around the Midwest there. Several people looked at it and said it is an over date. I found this...

Results of my first time out with the 13" Ultimate coil

I took the 13" Detech Ultimate out for the first time today. We finally received an inch of rain yesterday. The old abandoned church lot I went to is surrounded by cornfields. The church was removed in 1923. I had not found anything there is years as it had been hit hard in the 80's and 90's...

    Just ordered my first Minelab

I just ordered my first Minelab today. It's a near mint Etrac that was traded on a 3030. It also has a Sunray probe. I also ordered Andy Sabish's book. I started detecting in the late 1970's so I am really looking forward to it.

Thinking about getting a deeper detector

Back in the mid 1980's I was finding numerous Barbers, Indian and early wheat's, V-nickels etc. Several of these coins were at 6-7 inches back then. That was as deep as I could get. I got away from detecting for a few years and have been back detecting for about 3 years now. I have an AT Pro...

American Diggers and code of ethic's

I just finished watching the latest episode of American Diggers. They were granted permission to search the grounds of a beautiful Antebellum home In South Carolina. The very first signal that was dug was on a nice green lawn. The signal was dug with a shovel and uncovered a flattened beer can...

    Deep pinpointer

I found a video recently where the detectorist was using an Atpro on iffy signals. He then used a pinpointer that appeared to pinpoint at several inches. You cannot see what brand the pipointer was. Does anyone know what it was. It was not a Garrett pinpointer but was black in color.

    F75 T2 or Omega 8000

This is my first post to a metal detector forum of any type although I have been reading them for years. My first detector was a Groundhog I bought in 1978. In 1986 I bought an ADS7 which to this day in my opinion was a great machine. I sold it in 1993 and bought a CZ5. This machine I still have...
