    I cannot wait for Autumn

As far as I know not a lot of Roman occupation around here but I mainly do the beaches, one beach I go to Roman coins have been found so people were coming on holiday down here back then. There was a lot of trade with the med up to 4,000 years ago so there are about 6,000 ship wrecks off the...

    I cannot wait for Autumn

Here in Cornwall we are having possibly the busiest summer ever as people cannot go abroad. A report the other day said that thee were about 12-14 thousand people on one of our beaches and we have 300 around here. It is impossible getting a parking space and the traffic jams are miles long so I...

    First beach hunt

Went to one of my local beaches for the first time this year on Sat it was like a bank holiday weekend in August but everyone kept their distance from each other. Found a few coins including a 6d but then I had a weird signal which turned out to be a crystal about an inch long with a silver...

Haven't seen any good post lately.

The police would arrest me as it's an easy collar, very warm at the moment, 12c last night, as we stick out into the Atlantic we don't get the weather that they get in England. Not long to wait now though.

Haven't seen any good post lately.

I contacted our MP to ask if it was allowed for me to drive the 8 miles to a beach, he said you could but you may get stopped by the police and fined so even he didn't know.

Haven't seen any good post lately.

I have about 300 beaches within an hours drive from the house here in Cornwall but because of lock down not allowed to go to any of them. It's annoying to watch local beaches wash out to rock and not being able to go and detect on them. Had my jab because of my age so hope to be able to get out...

    Out of lockdown!!!

Hi!. Next year for the jab, over here they have started on the 65-70 age group and hope to have everyone who is susceptible by May. The count here in Cornwall is 81 cases per 100,000 which is low The weather here had now warmed up to 10c but now we have 50mph gales. Don't think there is much...

    Out of lockdown!!!

Just heard that we may be able to get out of the house at the beginning of March, only managed a few trips out detecting last year and none yet this year. Only one Gold ring last year but it weighed 7gm. Last time I was out one of my beaches was washing down to the rocks in a few places but...

Minelab Equinox 800 finds 1,200 GOLD STATERS!!!!

Quite right about pas being very slow. A friend of mine found a Roman ring on a Cornish beach, it took over two years before he got the pay out.

Minelab Equinox 800 finds 1,200 GOLD STATERS!!!!

The only time the finder looses their finds is if they try and hide it. Not long ago some people were jailed for doing that, they tried to sell loads of gold coins off. Any finds declared treasure trove is handed in to the authorities after which an independent committee works out how much the...

    Get Off My Land..!!

We had a similar thing when we used to go fishing. An angling magazine sent a photographer to fish with us for the night in a particularly dangerous place for which we we well equipped to do with all the climbing gear required. All three of us stated that he should not take photo's that showed...

Pushing the Depth Limits of the 800

I remember reading an article in the UK that someone detecting with an 800 had a good signal and started to dig, at 28in they found the item but then contacted the authorities to report it, not heard anything else at the moment. Will report if I hear anything.

    Bonehead mistakes...........

After loosing a couple of things because I was tired I now fix my plastic scoop metal trowel and pinpointer to my harness with 40lb nylon fishing line so when I leave an item behind I soon notice.

Broke stock coil ear- Is it covered by warranty?

Why are the latest coils so flimsy. I have an old Detector pro Wader with the small coil which I use in rocky areas. The coil is solid resin and has been knocked on rocks for hours most days that I am out for the past 10 years and has not broken and still works.

    Notching out numbers.

I always carry a couple of different Gold rings just to remind me what the signal is on my 800. Last week I threw one of the rings which is in a small plastic envelope down on the beach just to remind me of the tone and a few moments later further up the beach I had the same signal which turned...
