For those on the fence ...Silver from the last couple of hunts.

Run the 5hz bandpass and mixed mode. I pull the ferrous tone side off my ear a bit and swing slow, not slow enough, Slower! You dont need the gain cranked up in those trashy areas. Keep the gain around 4-5, disc 82-85 and recovery delay at 60. I try to always run best data and any...

For those on the fence ...Silver from the last couple of hunts.

I have the sef 12x15 and the sef 10x12 and use them as needed. The 12x15 goes deep and the 10x12 separates awesome. There are times I want a smaller coil and use my 5.3 Whites or the 4x6. I really need an in between coil but the SEF 8x6 is not v-rated and until then I guess I will hold off.

For those on the fence ...Silver from the last couple of hunts.

All coins where found from 4"-8" in nail infested trashy areas. V3i running mixed mode and the 10x12 sef. I did get skunked last weekend and no silver. I find so many Wheat pennies its not worth cleaning up till the end of the year, unless they are a key date. I havent found any "solid" gold...

    issues with v3i and 15x12sef

Yep I had an SEF fail like that and it made me so mad. I took it home and took that box connector apart on the coil wire and found that the signal and ground wires where sometimes touching making the detector not register things and go crazy. I pried the wires apart and used more hot glue on...

    Interference V3i

I noticed this a while back and it helped me score an old gold ring. It was right on top of the buried lines, but I had to have the gain turned down so low. I wonder if the new guys to the "V" know to hold the coil in the air and hold pinpoint and do frequency offset at the same time? I think...

    Interference V3i

Carl, I find that frequency offset certainly helps but is not the end all of fixes. Is there any chance that the next flagship could recognize the 60hz cycle and null it out? I am sure its more complicated than that but something on those lines, such as taking a sample and algorithm it out?

    Interference V3i

I have numerous areas that are not huntable. EMI can be a real downer and I hope the next Whites flagship model can noise cancel. Last weekend my hunting buddies and I went out and the EMI at a location that we can normally run a gain of 8+ was really bad. I had to turn my gain down to half...

    Just bought a new V3i!

What ever you do dont run the gain any higher than 4-5 the first hour. Run a simple coin program or heavy trash program. Get used to the machine and sweep slow. It can be a very noisy detector around power lines and buried cables and will have you scratching your head till you figure it out...

    Watch Fob

Cat used this watch fob for plenty of years however, the D7 was introduced in the late 30's and Cat started making this fob to highlight its flagship model. So it could date back to the late 30's. Of course it still could have been made and dropped all the way up through the years. Thats all...

    Watch Fob

I found that same fob a couple years back. From what I can remember it dated as far back as the 30's. Yours is in nicer shape.

One last question to V3 and V3i owners

My detector payed for itself within a yearly and did so with considerable authority. I was out with many different detectors and not one provided me with as much information as the v3i. Its really crucial to have as much information as possible as to what is in the ground. With our short day...

    $13.50 in quarters today.

I have been hunting almost every weekend and really have not had much to show since the last diamond ring. We got out hunting today and got around 4 hours of swing time in at a school we hunt every couple of years. I got $13.50 in quarters and another $3.00 in change. My wife called me a...

    Whites 9" Eclipse Spider COIL

Oh boy that kinda talk will get me to post quick. Is it true? Have Rob and Larry signed NDA's? (non disclosure agreements) Do we have a completely new wireless detector with wireless pinpointer on the way!!!!!! Does this require a whole new thread? After doing a little more investigating...

    readings on wheatbacks

You answered your own question. This is a normal reading with the v3i. Old wheats ring up like dimes and I love finding them.:detecting:

    Things are really slow

Bought a lucas 10EFI sawmill and have been swamped with work. I have been out hunting a couple of times but nothing worthy of posting. The new pinpointer from Whites should get me jumping again, just too tired to do much....:stretcher:

    One Great Machine!!

My inlaws live up there in Longview, and my wife is flying back home to California today. I have done some research on the area and it appears most of Kelso and Longview are fill dirt. I will read up on some of my books and see if I can point you in an area with old ground. Sounds like you are...
