I dug this the past weekend and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is worth more restored or left as is. It is one of only 3450 produced in 1832. I have enclosed a link to its history. http://www.armscollectors.com/mgs/powder2.htm All opinions welcomed. Thanks HH Bill [attachment...

XL Pro finds Powder Flask & stirrup

Got out today to a new spot. It was over a half mile from any road and in a timber that once housed a stage station, brothal and a livery station. Plus a couple home sites which I don't believe we found yet. I usually coin hunt as SW Iowa didn't have any Civil War sites. Today turned out a...

    Magellan explorist 500

Just got my first hand held GPS and now find I need to invest in a map software to do what I had planned on doing. I was going to save way-points of historical nature and apply them to modern map to print out from computer. However the Mapsend software is another $80, for maps to show county...

    XL Pro Mods???????

I have been wondering if anyone has ever added a couple of colored indicator lights to an XL Pro? I mostly coin hunt and some places cherry pick silver. Is this a possibility or am I just wishing? If a small light or two could be added indicating silver and copper it would sure be handy in...

    XL Pro Does It Again

Just last Sunday I found my oldest coin in my 33 years of detecting. Well, my brother Digger and I went back to the same spot and after about 6 hours of looking I found my now oldest coin an 1835 Capped Bust Half Dime. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would find either of...

    Day after Christmas finds.

Got to get out with my brother Digger and he did get the better find but I managed to pull these from an old fair ground we have hit over the years. Its been a corn-bean field since 1920. The IH 1891, V nickel 1904, Barber dime 1899. Still got beat with a seated dime, and a very nice one at...

    Selective Hunting

Friday after work I had but 45 minutes to get out and try to cure my cabin fever. Living in SW Iowa it has been rather cold until the past week and the ground had been too frozen to think about digging. With a couple days of lower 50 degree days the soil had started to thaw to the place where...

Let's see who is paying attention. 1943 Copper Cent

1943 Copper!!!! Let me first say that I never look at dates on Memorial Cents and throw all my Wheaties in baggies for future,(Winter Work). Well my son, who love detecting, but can't seem to find the time, was going through my Wheaties and found this. I was ecstatic!!!! went directly on line...

Winter Blues or has everyone ran out of questions and tips?

Maybe because everyone on here seems so civil and not many arguments to stir the fire. I know I can't wait until it warms back up. Cabin Fever real BAD!!!:rage:

    Can anyone tell me?

Where could one expect an American GOLD coin to hit on a XL Pro? I'm speaking of the older $1, $2.50, $5.00, $10.00, and $20.00 coins. I have dreamed for over 33 years of finding one of these but as of yet not. Early years of detecting I probably walked over 1 or 2 as I ran the old...

Last time out with the XL Po

I just got my XL Pro in Sept and it has provided some remarkable finds for me. Here in Western Iowa it's hard to find real old coins, as the area where I live near the Missouri River wasn't settled much before the mid 1850's. However with some diligent research by my brother,Digger, and I we...

    LUV my XL Pro

I just found out about OUR new site today and am really happy to see others who enjoy their analog-metered machine as much as I do. Let me first say that I was browsing on occasion the White's Main Detecting Forum. About a week ago I had made the comment that this type of forum would be a good...
