Trade Token, Medal, Watch Fob, Silver, and More

Hunted a pasture, two yards, and a vacant lot Saturday with my CTX. It was memorable and enjoyable, but a rather wet hunt with the Bandit. I found some pretty cool stuff including a 1941 Washington Quarter. These two compact lids are interesting. The first one says Hollywood across the...

    Twins...

Got out for a bit today and recovered twins. One looked pretty good but the other one was not as pretty. I was well pleased with both since it's been a while since my last silver with the CTX. The last couple of months it seemed like my machine was not running as smooth and had a lot more iron...

    Plowed Fields

In 2007, I was fortunate enough to go on a detecting trip to East Anglia in the UK. Had an amazing experience with some great finds and hunted in plowed fields a couple of times. At the time I was detecting with an F-75 which had a "Plowed Field" mode. During these hunts I did much better than...

    One Great Hunt...(for me)

Got the chance to go back to the yard where I hit it big last year. I used my Australian machine in Oct. 2011 and had some issues due to EMI. I could not get much depth due to my low sensitivity setting but did very well anyway. This year I bought the newest Australian machine thinking it would...

    Commemorative Spoon

Had two fun hunts this weekend but did not find much to brag about. I really enjoyed both hunts and did make two new friends on Saturday during a Relic hunt in a really cool area. This commemorative spoon handle is silver plated copper and has a beautiful patina. It broke up during recovery...

    1914d Wheatie Found

I have been detecting off and on for 44 years and have found too many Wheats to count. Finally I found a rare one and it's in pretty decent shape with good detail. Last Monday and Tuesday I hunted 3 different trashy spots with the Deus and my finds were meager at best, or so I thought. A...

Silver Dollar Dilemma.... Need Expert Advice

About 30 years ago a bulldozer was used to clear a fence row on an old country road. Dirt, brush, barbed wire, and dozens of burned steel belted tires were pushed into small piles. A lot of the tire steel was also strung out and mashed into the soil in the process. Several years later a friend...

    Ferrous or Conductive?

I recently purchased an E-Trac and I am in the process of setting up a silver program for deep coins that I plan to use at hard hit sites. I did a search on the forum but I am still wondering if Ferrous or Conductive would be better for silver coins only. I am leaning toward Conductive but would...

    Roll Call

I have used the Vision 3 times for about 14 hours total here in Oklahoma. I have also spent about 12 hours bench testing and learning programming. It is quite an amazing machine and I am well satisfied with my results so far. Jim
