    US Army ring and more

So Aziz was an engineer. Is there a date and a last name? Nice finds!

    Ginormous Gold!

Ok, my initial research was FUBAR. The serial number on the case really messed up everything. Here's the real goods now. Took me a while to open the movement, then find the serial number. It's down below the movement, so you have to get lighting just right to see it. With that info, everything...

    Ginormous Gold!

If I hadn’t broken the glass, I might have considered it. Restoration sounds expensive.

    Ginormous Gold!

You’re correct. I should have checked the movement numbers. I’ll do that when I get home from work today. Leatherneck also suspected something didn’t add up. Thanks for the info.

    Ginormous Gold!

That’s a great idea. They may not have a Hamilton, but any 18k would get us a ball park figure.

    WOW!!

It's not a bit surprising. I've found live ammo everywhere I've hunted. Churches, schools, everywhere. Found a bag of 22s and a spill of live 12g shells. I'll probably end up blowing my hand off someday digging a target. Of course I'm in Texas where if you don't have guns and ammo, you aint s**t.

    Ginormous Gold!

This is the most massive gold I've ever found. Found under a tree in a curb strip. I broke the glass when I dug it up. It's 23 jewel, 18k, 12 size, 1903 Hamilton 927 according to Hamilton records. Given to Phil from Leonard in 1934. I wish Leonard would have given a little more info. Leonard...

    Finds of July 4th weekend. 10 silver/ 75 wheats

I hope everyone still has all their appendages after the 4th. Spent all weekend at one of my favorite areas. It never disappoints, but the wet weather was a challenge. All my equipment was covered with mud all of the time. The rain did wash up bottles, buttons, and marbles though. The blue bottle...

Two Silver weekend plus some neat and odd stuff.

There was a machine with a keyboard to input however many characters it would except. Then it would stamp the token and spit it out. Nobody mentioned the fancy silver scabbard tip. That's cool too

    Finds from 4/9-21/2021

Been very busy between work and play. Thought I'd start catching up on posting. The first pic shows the fresh-out-of-the-ground version of the next pic. I should start showing the before and after cleaning pics to show how beautiful this filthy stuff is after TLC. The Red Cross object is a belt...

    Ants in my pants!...

There’s a winding key for a clock there

    Is this ring gold?

I think it depends on your soil type. I've found many gold and silver pieces that don't corrode, but have a mineral crust built up on the exterior. Gold is always a dark material and silver seems to be a light material. I can meticulously chip away to expose gold, but silver sometimes won't let...

    Dog Tag?

No, I just like to do the research. I learn something new every time I research a found relic.

    Dog Tag?

Probably for the Jacksonville, Tampa, & Key West Railway Co. Love it.

Finds of 2-27-2021. 2 new sites

I survived the breakdown of Texas' highly touted independent power grid, single digit temps, and water outage! It was almost 90 degrees a week later. Fun times. On the other hand, I got out this weekend and zoned out from the bazaar times I'm living in. I enjoyed it thoroughly. How about that...
