Today's been a good day hunting

Those stones look like the only thing holding them in is glue. Would Tiffany glue diamonds into a socket like a piece of costume jewelry? And a 24K dog tail would bend like putty. Can we get a better pic of the piece and the Tiffany mark on the paw? Tiffany always marks their products with their...

Is it a tax token or a train token?

    I'm going with specialized washer.

3 Gold Rings and some Bridge Work

Whoever lost that row of teeth had a really bad day at the beach. It's always creepy when body parts are attached to your finds.

Literally the last target of the day

Nice find. I didn't know these existed. If I had found one, I wouldn't have known it was Confederate.

    Weird material

Judging from the last pic, I would say a white metal of some kind. An alloy of tin, lead, bismuth, or zinc, et cetera. It may have some weight to it whereas aluminum would be noticeably lightweight.

Hunts from last half of 2022

The 1st and 4th pics are from the same location where I found the Draped Bust Cent. This was when I found the Enfield "55" projectile. Also have a 1913 Buffalo and a 1916D Cent in the 1st pic. 2nd pic has a 1943 quarter and a 1936 Mexican 10c. Can't find any info on the brass badge, so any help...

Been super busy. Catchup Post #12

This is the sequel to Post #11. Pic 1 is from one of the small towns around home: A Houston Post advertising thimble, gigantic button?, white rubber tire from toy, tiny perfume bottle, and unusual boot heel. Pic 2 is from a weekend hunt: My first crotal bell, dated 1872, 1912 Barber dime, 1946...

This is the sequel to Post #10. Pic 1 site featured tons of square nails and other rusty stuff. Been here before but hit it with a different machine this time. I love the huge skeleton key. The hex nut is a Schrader valve stem nut. Must have been for a large truck since it's larger than all the...

    1859 O Yeah!

Those may be old marks. They should be shiny new cuts if recent. How could a huge machine make such marks on a tiny object like that? Anyway, nice find. I still haven't found a half dime.

Been super busy. Catchup Post #10: My most cherished find

The site is in a small town that dates to 1850, on a city lot. It was found under the remains of an old building with lots of old glass, plumping, scrap metal, and other coins from 70-100 yrs ago. I'm sure it was probably moved to Texas with a settler and eventually fell through a crack in the...

Been super busy. Catchup Post #10: My most cherished find

The site is a vacant lot in a town that dates to 1850. I've hunted there a few times and always find a wide variety of relics. Found this .557 cal (55) Enfield projectile there once.

They built the railway and most of downtown in my hometown beginning in 1872. It saved our town from obscurity after the loses of the Civil War.

Been super busy. Catchup Post #10: My most cherished find

This is the sequel to Post #9 and includes, to me, the greatest find of my 45 yrs. of detecting. Some of you in New England may not see this as a big deal, but down here in Texas, I'm considering this extremely rare. I didn't know what I had when I dug it up, until I got home and cleaned it...

This is the sequel to Post #8. Boy, we Southerners were so proud of Confederate Veterans that we waited until 1899 to give this Southern Cross of Honor award to vets before they died off. This is about the same time statues started popping up in every Southern city. There's a lesson here...

Back on the river 19 silvers! Lots of barbers! Dime trifecta!

Research is a good start to a great hunt. Well done. I see that you found some musket balls. Are you finding other relics?
