What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

Great to have those capabilities but Does anyone go that deep for micro jewelry and small nuggets? All my years only known a few divers and most dove in 8 to 15 feet for regular gold jewelry. Based on location I would say the lighting would not be that great either. Several years ago I met up...

Fisher AQ PI, Another gold for the pile!

Yes, I'll have to take a look and get you a picture. I did do that at one time but now I just save all that stuff for my buddy Steve Noga. He.s like a kid when he goes thru all..

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

One thing I always liked about the D2 was the warranty.. 5 years.. and sometime ago I seen you could buy the 10 year warranty? If I were a diver or someone who hunted in adversed conditions that would be a Big Plus. I love the Excalibur but a 1 year warranty is down right robbery. And I think...

Fisher AQ PI, Another gold for the pile!

Another gold for the pile! Out Monday for 5 hours, targets were few but was able to get a couple silvers and a old gold signet. Going to let the AQ rest the next few hunts, walking into a spot I'm not sure what the bottom holds. Excalibur is up to bat..

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

Not used the Tesoro and really don't have to ....to give you the best option. Manticore is the best. Light Years ahead of the Tiger Shark. And the Big plus is Minelabs is still in business, Tesoro went out about 10 years ago so getting a repair would be a challenge. And one thing about water...

Fisher AQ PI First good target of the day, 14k gold ring Blackhills Gold.

Out testing to see how far I could get with just jeans and a t-shirt on under the drysuit in 60plus degrees waters. Two hours and scored a sweet Black Hills gold ring, over the years I have dug several but they are rare on the east coast. All I ever dug had a leafy design on them using...

    Fisher AQ Gold pendant

Out Tuesday for a few hours at a small beach with very few targets. Did score a solid .79 gram 10k gold pendant with the AQ, also used the excalibur part of the time and was finding nothing so I switched machines and had better luck. I do have the full video .. short version

Fisher AQ PI .. Old Gold & 4 Silvers

Thank You! Old Gold really is beautiful, the fact many are dated and have names makes them even more special. I agree the silver takes a beating, some are so bad they flake away when cleaning. The saved or good Silver goes to my Girlfriend fund, once every few years I'll send it in for melt and...

Fisher AQ PI .. Old Gold & 4 Silvers

Couple more gold from a few weeks ago using the AQ (3 so far for 2026). Think I'll make this my "AQ Gold for 2026" post. So far I averaged about ten a year using it, setting at 48 gold with owing two AQ's since May 20th and Oct 2020. Recently had someone over on FB ask if I'm hunting in all...

Different Perspective – 20 Gold Rings of Yesteryear Equal to One Today!

Steve stopped by today (March 30, 2026) and I got to see one of his early conversions from the late1980's, we tested it against the new Legend 2 on depth, Air test. Amazing his (water proof) CZ6 is two inches deeper then the Legend 2. He shared the story how he could go along and cherry pick the...

    Favorite Sovereign coil?

The 10 inch but on the excalibur, I did well with the 800/7.25 coil at the ocean but in the Chesapeake Bay water the 10 inch. And I had that crazy ULT 13, deeper then the WOT in all metal but could not use it in the saltwater, to HOT and to much noise. One reason I like the 10 inch over all...

Can a PI be deeper than a Deus 2

I did some testing using the Fisher AQ Pi against the Manticore. Amazing the Manticore did great against the PI on the drysand, but once I went into the saltwater (coil submerged) there was no comparison. I would say the PI in the dry was deeper but only a few inches, In the salt water at least...

Different Perspective – 20 Gold Rings of Yesteryear Equal to One Today!

Yes, Covid did the club in. Post a picture of your patch, love to see and share that with a few friends. Steve comes by about once a year and sometimes we go out hunting, the last time I took him out to Sandy Point he cleaned up on me and got two gold.. Great guy.

    Remote Discrimination Switch For Sovereign

Sorry I forgot where I had seen this post. This is the only picture I have of the work, I think all I did was put a jumper on this (RED) toggle? Been many years but I remember it was simple for the XS2..its the top.. middle picture. I ran the 2 lead cable out the back of the XS case using a...
