Honest V3 depth on coins please.

I can hit a buried dime at 8" and quarter at 12" fairly easily without Tx Boost on.

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Thanks AK, that seems plenty acceptable for a fix to the wireless volume issue. The whole 8 above threshold is kind of boggling my mind right now though. Does that mean the minimum audio response will always be about 5dB above the threshold volume? I think I'd have to play with it to know...

    Vision depth.

Good info Ray. Can you share with us what settings you were using... Frequencies, Sensitivity, RxGain, Recovery Delay, Ground Filter, Correlate / Best Data? Thanks!

    10K Braclet

That's great Bob! I have some parks by me that my Dad and I have really cleaned out pretty good over the last year. I think digging low conductors might be a good option for those parks. Congrats!

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Carl, I appreciate the info, and can now understand why the fix has been implemented the way it was. I know they say hindsight is 20/20... and while I might think 8 bits in the beginning would have been a better choice, I'm thinking there also has to be a logical reason why it was limited to 5...

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

I can understand that Carl, and was thinking along those lines when it was stated only a small percentage of the V3 customers had a problem with the volume. What I don't understand is why couldn't the software just allow you to change the lower volume limit to 0? Why only a 20dB reduction in...

    Well stated Carl and Rick.

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Just look at what Apple does with the iPhone and iPod Touch. Major updates are free on the iPhone because you are paying through the nose monthly for phone service, which I'm sure Apple is getting a cut of. But the iPod Touch users have to pay a nominal fee for the upgrade. Obviously most of...

    Todays Finds

I've done a 100 coin day before and I know how difficult that is. Congrats on bagging some silver AND over 100 coins for the day! Just imagine, back in the day you might be able to do 100 old coins in a day (silver, wheats, IH's, V and Buffs) I'm sure many of you know what that was like...

The dreaded Iron Question with some pictures.

Thanks Jerry! I did this with Google Sketchup. If you want to check it out, here's the link for the free software: http://sketchup.google.com/ I downloaded 3 models which helped speed up the process too, the nail, dime and detector: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ It's not too bad...

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Thanks for the info Carl. I'm probably going to wait until after a big group hunt that's coming up to send mine in.

I was bored, does this look about right?

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Good point about the software splash screen. I didn't think about that. I suppose that's cool and all, I really just want the volume fixed. But I do like the Vision name on the side of the box. I thought they may be legally obligated to change it.

    Vision does well.13 Indians,Seated Quarter,Barber dime,V nickel and 3 Wheaties this evening.

Nice span of indians! I guess the late 1870's may have been when the site first started being trafficked. I'm just as impressed with your collection of IH's as I am your seated quarter :)

SE was no match for my Vision at 10" :yikes:

I was thinking, what was it.... a gold nugget or something? Good one Ray!

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Carl, if I send my "Vision" in for this fix, would they be inclined to rebadge it to the "Spectra V3"? I would like to keep it the old way :)

Here's Your Chance To Own the "Collectors" Edition

That's what I'm thinking too... Nobody in their right mind is paying $1750 for a Vision. Gee I hope not.

The dreaded Iron Question with some pictures.

Can you clarify exactly how deep your nail is from the surface, then how deep the dime is from the surface? Is the nail tipped at a 45 degree angle from the surface level? (most nails I've dug are lying flat). If you re-read your sentence, I can't add up the numbers properly. From the surface...

The dreaded Iron Question with some pictures.

Good info Southwind! Thanks for taking the time to run this test. I've found plenty of coins in holes with nails and other item that cause the detector to null. These were with my SE Pro and E-Trac. Just think how many barber quarters and halfs and just about every other 100 year old coins...
