    Help with an Eagle Button (again)?

    Back in the day, there was a wave of patriotism and women were making belts out of those. Yours is just one of the links in that belt. Nice find. Notice the button has never had a shank in it.

    You button is a post civil war button. They were made from 1876 to 1902. The wings on your button are more pronounced as is the crest. Also the angle of the wings are different from civil war era buttons.

    Bomb civil war

    The problem with not disarming a shell could be legal. State laws differ, but in TN we can own the shells, but if there was a house fire and a shell blew up, any injuries to fire crews or others would be your responsibility.
