    Need Help on Shadow X2

When I bought my Shadow X2 new in the late 90's out of the box my ground balance was set too positive for my mild ground conditions. Troy did put out some instructions way back on how to adjust those internal pots if needed for your particular area. I do remember when making adjustments on the...

    Banning of metal detecting

The county where I live here in Texas banned the use of metal detectors in parks but the feral hogs have free range to plow up one particular park and they don't fill their holes. I was asked to leave a city park while detecting in the same county and it was no where written in the park rules...

    Tesoro no longer in business

If I'm not mistaking Tesoro was the first metal detector company to really downsize detector housings and I remember some people calling them Toysoro. Just to add a little background history to TC-NM post...Jack Gifford and Ray Crum formed C&G metal detectors in Phoenix Az. for a time before...

    Location of Tesoro serial number?

I think the serial number on my original Stingray came off. Since the company is no longer with us no need for them really anymore.

    Ceramic ball

    Maybe a ceramic catalyst ball?

Pick up a old cutlass II today.

Vintage units can still find the goodies if the coil swings over the target and not too deep or terribly masked!

    Moving to Texas from NJ

Red on black friend of Jack...red on yellow will kill a fellow. Beautiful snakes but very venomous as they are related to the cobra family!

Holes in old military rifle cartridge.

I remember hearing or reading once that sometimes spent cartridges were disabled to prevent them from being reloaded?! In Arizona they were usually smashed with rocks.

Bandido or Silver Sabre which one to keep?

The Bandido Micro Max is the first metal detector that spoiled me because of it's small light-weight housing. I wish Tesoro would have at least designed an external trimmer so one could have easily adjusted the threshold level to their liking. Back then I use to change coils a lot and remember...

ANYONE HAVE ANY FEEDBACK ON THE TESORO MAYAN

I purchased my first detector (original Tesoro El Dorado) back in 1987 from a metal detector dealer in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a nugget-shooter using the original Fisher Gold Bug and his wife loved swinging her Tesoro Mayan. He had trays of gold nuggets he had found in NW Arizona and she found...

    Well life rolls on

Thanks Mary as that confirms the last word I heard about the Mojave coil. I know how the Tesoro coil differs somewhat from the Troy coil but have never used a Mojave configured coil. Really sad that the sun finally sat on Tesoro cause they were built solid and hard to beat in the trash :>)

    Well life rolls on

Robert some years back my hunting partner used a Fisher CZ-20 so I know about Fishers depth reputation and I don't dispute it :>) I can honestly say that when hunting junky areas more times than not the Tesoro had the edge. While searching really junky areas (where most of my hunts are) depth is...

    Well life rolls on

Sounds like the Mojave will be the rarest Tesoro to find in the future. What was the final general consensus regarding the stock coil that came with the Mojave...did it at all resemble the Troy Shadow X2 7" concentric coil?

    Found a bunch of these?

I use to hunt around an old WW1 training camp and found some brass ones of different sizes. That style tensioner was used during CW era but not sure about being brass?

    Unexpected fossil find.

Sometimes "mother nature" can create some bizarre shapes into what I call a geofact.....not saying that's what it is...but just a possibility??

    Coil cord care

Not sure if this would work but maybe worth a try...pick up a can of Flex-Seal and give it a shot?
