    Sobering find

[/img]Wife and I walked up on this last night while walking the dogs. Be careful as they are on the move.

Omega and the new 10" DD coil

Took the Omega and 10" DD coil for a test drive today. and here is what went down. First thing I noticed was substantial EMI with this setup. Did find a few coins and lots of trash, but had to run sens no higher than 60. Anything above that and there was a lot of popping in the headphones...

Omega finds with the 10" concentric coil

Hit the new spot yesterday for about an hour. It's a roughly half acre lot just a few hundred yards from the main square in my town that was founded in 1859. Here is what I found. The roll of coins turned out to be 35 quarters dating from 1965 to 1995. Alas, no silver. Could not believe my eyes...

Omega and the 10" conc coil

I own an Omega, and really enjoy it. I have the 11" DD coil and the 5" coil. Am I really missing anything by not having the 10" concentric coil it comes with? I am looking at the new 5x10 coil to add to my arsenal. Was thinking that would be money better spent. Can't seem to find any info on the...

    What would you do?

Here's the scenario. Location. 1885 school grounds with buildings from the 1920s still standing. Tons of old beaver tail pull tabs that hit in the 56 to 63 range. Your tools. Fisher Gold bug pro and Teknetics Omega, 5"dd, 10"concentric and 11"dd coils. Would you run the GB and the 5"coil...

    First hunt with the Omega.

Went to the old home site that has been heavily hunted with my GoldBug DP. Used the 10" stock coil, and the 5" and 11" DD coils from my GoldBug. Maybe it was the learning curve, or maybe I just didn't get over any other good targets, but both items were found with the 11" DD coil. Found my...

    Old Home site locket

Been hitting my first old home site. Pulled some coins dating back to 1893 thru 1920. Went back this morning and found this. It rang up a 64 on my Goldbug DP. I usually don't associate that number with great finds. It is in two separate pieces. Small tabs fold over the back and hold it into...

GB DP hits my oldest coin.

Actually, I was using my new 5" coil and going back over previously hit spots. Went to an old house foundation and found 2 Indian head pennies. An 1893 and a 1909. That 5" coil is surgical in the way it separates out a target. I had been to this spot several times before. Near the back and...

    F5 finds at driving range

I live just up the hill from the driving range and decided to try my luck. Found 66 cents in clad and some parts. The top item was a dime, the rest were pennies. Those must have been some dam sharp blades.

    New F5. Got some questions.

This is my second Fisher as I also own a GoldbugDP. I find the ground balancing process to be about the same, along with a few other functions, so the detector already has a familiar feel to me. Using the suggestions I found on here from Mike Hillis and others, I run it at 80-85 sens and thresh...

    A little heads up

Took my GB DP to the beach this past weekend. It did very well in the dry and wet sand. However, when I allowed the coil to get wet, everything went south. All I can figure is that water got in the coil somehow and rendered the detector inoperable. Started getting a fuzzy clicking sound and...

    Day 3 in the park

Been hitting the same park this week. Went yesterday for a couple hours. Pulled out some more clad and this necklace. Pendant is a Catholic faith medallion. Says 12K on the back. Can't find any markings on the chain yet. It looks like gold. Settings on the Gold Bug were, Sens at 95...

    First park hunt

Met up with a fellow hunter, also swings a Fisher but not sure which one. Hit my first park with the new GBDP. Found some clad, pull rings and tabs and my second toy car. Dave, on the other hand, pulled out a 10k ladies ring with what looked like a nice ruby on top with his machine. Tested the...

    New Gold Bug

Driving home yesterday with my new DP, passed a homesite I have wanted to hit for months. Problem was, no one was ever home. And, did I mention I had never asked permission before. It was my first old homesite. Drove to the main house, asked for and received the OK from the landowner. Not as...

Safari strikes Gold and Silver today.

Stopped by the local rodeo arena today to do a little tectin with the Safari. Using a modified program I found in Andy's book on the Quatro. First 3 targets were pull tabs, then a solid 38 at about 8 inches. Pulled out a silver belt tip. Pull tab Pull tab Large washer BEEP. Solid hit at 37. So...

    Galveston hunt today.

Hit the beach for over 4 hours today with my younger brother. Lots of pulltabs and a few coins. Also found one of these. http://www.treasurerealm.com/coinpapers/countrycoins/coins/S/switzerland02.html Switzerland had the franc. What exactly is a Rappen?

    Fort Collins Hunters

Wife and I will be going to Fort Collins late March to see the grand kids. Was looking for some advice on places to go for a quick hunt while we are there. Any local clubs that might be meeting in the area? Thanks Tony

OK. This may be crazy, but can you water proof a Safari?

I mean, if you could, you would have an Excal with a few more freqs, notch disc. and some kind of display. Few more programs. Not for anything deep, just to 10 feet or so, in case a rogue wave knocks you on your butt. Might be cheaper than owning both machines. I don't know, just a thought.

How do you keep from losing targets?

Short of walking out of the water to check the scoop for targets on the beach, how do you keep those smaller items from sifting thru the holes in your scoop? I have read on here about the floating contraptions that some have built, but I am already running out of room in my vehicle with the...
