Are MXTs no longer being built?

I've own the original since it came out. Love it! Despite buying some other detectors, I always seem to go back to the MXT! With that said, I was going to upgrade to a Pro and was wondering if they even still make the original MXT? I assume nobody would want one if the Pro is available.

    Advice on urban hunt

Hey guys I need some advice on a simple upcoming hunt in downtown Phoenix. Anyone who lives in Phoenix knows there's little history here except for the homes in downtown Phoenix that are privately owned. Most places with history in downtown Phoenix is either covered with concrete or asphalt...

Impression of the Killer Bs one ear phones

For awhile I've been contemplating on buying a set of one ear headphones. I finally bit the bullet on the Killer Bs. Overall impression - great. Just for others to know, they fit TIGHT. If you have a large head beware!! I have a fairly small head - my hat size is 6 7/8" and the headphones...

    Observations after years of detecting

So I've been hunting for about 8 years. I started on the Whites MXT, moved to a Whites VX3, sold it and ended up with an AT GOLD. Still have the MXT - my son uses it. Over the years, I mastered the MXT. I can honestly say that. But I felt like I was mission gout on "something" because everyone...

    Why wont Whites listen?

I've had my MXT for 7 years. Finally had electrical problems and sent it back to Whites. In the meantime, I began looking around and purchased an AT Gold. I really like it, but there's a few features I prefer on the MXT. I recently got my MXT back and it works like new, but the more I play with...

    Cross chart

Long time Whites user, new AT Gold person. Only spent an hour on the machine. Anyone know where there is a cross reference sheet comparing Whites VDI numbers with Garrett's? I'm writing this from work and can't even remember what the AT registered as a penny the other ya. Thanks

    Silly question

Long time Whites user new ATG user. Why would you use IRON AUDIO? Wouldn't most rather just silence it? What's the reason for hearing it?

    MXT audio problem

Well after 7 years, my MXT isn't up to par. With headphones, I can hear audio but it's kinda faint. Threshold seems to be non-existent even when turned up all the way. NO audio without the headphones. I sent it to White's Friday. Curious what the problem is.

    Summer headphones

Anyone live in AZ or down south where it's really hot or humid in the summer? What are you all using for headphones? I've tried regular headphones in Phoenix but it's just too hot. I switched to small iPod ear bus which it so much better, but I feel like I'm losing out on quality phones...

    What can I do with a V3i/VX3?

I've had my VX3 for almost a year and feel pretty comfortable with it. However, like the V3i, it has lots of settings to tweak for the applicable hunting location. When though, does a hunter needs so many options? I mean that with honesty. For example, I live in AZ and rarely, if ever, leave...

    Some more VX3 questions

RE: VX3 #1 - When operating in MIXED mode, if the unit can discriminate a target, does it automatically shut off the AM mode and stay in the DISC mode? Not sure if that makes sense. From my understanding of the MXT, it operates like this. #2 - Please give me examples of when you guys use the...

    Help with VDI

Question - I sweep my VX3 in factory C & J mode in my test garden over my wife's wedding ring. On the surface. Small thin 14k ring. VX3 sporadically hits it. When it does it's a blurp at -6 through 5. This is in 3 frequency mode. MXT hits every time. Registers foil, but consistent hit...

    Pinpoint sensitivity adjustment

Is there a way to adjust the pinpoint sensitivity on the V series? From my basic understanding, I thought adjusting the AM would control this. In pinpoint mode, I don't hear an audible sound until I'm practically on the target. The VCO is enabled. Once I'm inches from the target, I get a really...

RX on VX3 compared to MXT

Since I'm familiar with the MXT, can I assumed the RX numbers are the same for both machines? MXT goes to +3. VX3 goes to 15 - would this be the same as +5? Is the MXT 10 the same as the VX3 10? thanks

    Hunting style question

Pretty silly question related to my upcoming purchase. With my MXT, I go to a site, adjust my notches accordingly and start hunting. I've been reading that the V3i can be adjusted to "your" hunting style. What exactly does that mean? Am I missing something here? My hunting style is just that -...

    Why not upgrade?

So I've been using my MXT for about 5 years now and consider myself very proficient. I'm eager to upgrade, maybe a V3i. But why? Why change if I'm happy with my MXT? I figured a more advanced machine would allow me to find more targets or at least analysis them better. Of the MXT users here...

    Comparison question about VDI readings

Still have more comparison questions before my buy so I know what to expect if I drop $1500 bucks. With my MXT, which I'm pretty darn good with, good targets that are deep usually do not VDI correctly and appear to be junk. So unless you're willing to dig all the junk signals, or most of them...

    Does analysis weaken with depth?

So I'm doing my due diligence before I buy my V3i. I came across a person who stated from his experience, the V3i plotter analysis suffered on targets deeper than 4 inches. Surface to 4" - works great VERY accurate. Anything deeper than that accuracy begins to diminish. His experience with this...

    Can't find a local V3i

I'm practically ready to pull the trigger on a unit but nobody has one in stock. We're talking Phoenix, AZ! Their reasoning is understandable. Most guys in AZ want a dedicated gold finding machine, so the V3i's just sit on the shelves. I wanted to check it out in person before I buy. Found one...

Why some hate and love the V3i?

Hi guys - Long time follower, first time thread. Been posting on another forum that some of you may recognize my name, but having found this forum that's specific to certain detectors, figured this would be the place to ask questions. A little background on myself. Been hunting for 7 years...
