Pt900 ring with a ruby and four diamonds.

That kind of title gets my attention very quickly too. Did three short hunts at the beach this week. Used an Ace 150. The temperature has really been up and down, sometimes light snow blowing through, other times warm and sunny. Cherry blossom season due to start at the end of March. On...

Two more silver, kite tail, and sprinting :)

A Sunday afternoon hunt at the beach. Watched a guy with a kite for a while, had to be one of the longest kite tails I've seen. Very skillful at controlling it and not ending up in big knots. We were at the western end of the beach and Ken says he wanted to go to the toilet, which is at the...

    Ace goes Pt 900 :)

Had an unexpected free morning (Thursday), so you can easily guess what I did?! :) 321 yen in modern Japanese coins. Plus and older 1965 silver 100 yen, my second silver coin in Japan. And a brass 1948 Japanese 50 sen coin. Platinum ring (marked Pt 900) - first one this year - showed/sounded...

Nike, Tiffany and Me Tarzan :)

Sunday afternoon at the regular beach. With Ken and Riki too, although it tended to be a fart around day for them, Riki the lesser of the two! When they focus they can really get the goodies, when they don't they don't. :) They wandered over to the top part of the beach and played pinpoint the 1...

Four silver rings. Four lithium batteries. :)

Went for a Saturday afternoon hunt by myself, while the kids were at judo. Couldn't hunt last week, busy with work and also my wife is in New Zealand for another week so that has made things busier too. We have been creating some very interesting, if not unusual, meals. Used an Ace 150...

A green pull tab and some 950

Sunday afternoon hunt with an Ace 150 at a beach nearby. Was planning to take some photos. Charged the camera battery last night.....got to the beach, opened the camera to take some pics of people digging clams and the "Charge the battery" sign comes on and it automatically shuts down. More like...

'Found' some small silver too. And the many faces of 'real' money. :)

Added 1kg of silver granules to the pan, we (Ken and Riki are in on this one also.) used some beach found coins to buy that, at the spot rate. As long as the bag remains sealed (no plans to open it unless we want to e.g. test a vacuum cleaner out!) then it is easy to sell the bags here...

Cowboy boot, a cross, a Sumo ring. :)

Back to the regular beach with Ken. 957 yen in coins for him. Silver cross earring - on the scales. A Marlboro boot lighter which he likes. :) 3,535 yen for me. Three silver rings and a small silver heart. One of the rings is very wide, so Ken reckons it came from a Sumo wrestler. Broken...

    Silver and the battery.

Sunday afternoon. Same beach as yesterday, but with Ken this time. Around fifty coins between us, no old ones. Sinkers, keys, trash, trash, trash as usual. ;) One corner of the beach there's an old military battery. No digging there. Four silver rings for me, two at the back are matching and...

Riki's turn - first rings for 2006

Saturday afternoon beach hunt. Riki called the beach to hunt, he wanted to dig old coins like Ken and I found last hunt. Fine by me. I worked in the morning, then went to have a look at Ken and Riki's elementary school art exhibition for half an hour or so, enjoyed that. Ken did the orchestra...

A midnight hunt. A day hunt.

NIGHT Went to the beach with Ken for a one hour hunt from midnight to 1:00am. Riki wanted to go too but had an early start in the morning, a six hour hike with the boy scouts. Will plan some after school hunts for him. Minus 25cm tide so there was LOTS of new beach, wet sand, to explore. First...

Honest and faithful machines and stars :)

Saturday afternoon hunt at a beach nearby with an Ace 150 (kids went to judo). Continued hunting a real trashy area. A few junk rings and a PISCES pendant, next to that in the top pic is a ring with 'WISH ON A STAR' on the outside. Below that 'SevenStars' :) Lighter says 'They are an honest and...

LA VIE EST UN SOMMEIL, L'AMOUR EN EST LE REVE, ET VOUS AUREZ VECU SI VOUS AVEZ AIME

Had a free 1.5 hours this afternoon (Monday) so went for a hunt with an Ace 150 at the beach near us, the one that has a windsurfing club. Some light snow was falling and I was the only one there, with a few hundred ducks. :) Slowed right down, not on the digging, but on the swinging because the...

Another fun day at the beach. :)

Sunday afternoon. Regular beach with Ken and Riki. As soon as I lowered the Sea Hunter Mark II coil the fun began. Out came a wallet. Took it to the police, they are just next to the beach. Think the policeman got a bit of a fright when I walked in, must remember to take off my hat and...

    Walking a different beach

Checked out a different beach this afternoon, very close to home. Have tried the eastern end before, this was the first time to hunt the western end. Used an Ace 150. Filled up a bucket of the usual stuff, plenty of cans and trash in the sand. Lots of sinkers too, 22 in total. Pretty quiet on...

    17.6g of silver a day. :)

A short afternoon hunt at the beach near us. Air temperature was up to +10C for a while, very nice conditions. Had lots of rain yesterday so the beach near the water was covered in trash, it tends to flow down the rivers and into the sea, then floats up on the beaches. Ken was very happy to dig...

A dentist in the making? Not! :)

Back to the beach near us. No wind so quite warm - around +8C in the afternoon. Monday - National holiday - Coming of Age Day. Riki = 516 yen (around US$4.50) Ken = 1,645 yen (around US$14.30) and the bottom four items in the pic - got back to the car and he said "Now it is time to pull out...

A key ring and a key finder - literally. :)

Back to the same beach as yesterday, for a three hour hunt this afternoon. As you can see, a bit of a strange variety. Well, isn't it always?! :) I mean, I grew up in New Zealand and find 10 cents in Japan! A key with a silver ring attached. An electronic key finder, just whistle and it will...

Ringing in the New Year - afternoon hunt

Jan. 1st. Went to a beach nearby for a few hours in the afternoon. Beautiful weather. First coin dug and it is an old Japanese one - Year 1668. The second one from that beach. Then a few newer coins and up comes a Japanese 10 Sen coin from 1935, not good condition but first one of that kind for...

    A night hunt

Got to the regular beach just before midnight, December 31st. We (Ken and Riki too) were just in time to watch some new year fireworks people were letting off. Looked like someone accidentally dropped a match in the entire box because there were fireworks shooting all over the place at an...
