    Rent before buying?

Well, I have owned less than 5 detectors in my 35 years of hunting. In every case I bought it then decided if I liked it. I discovered in most cases there are things I like and don’t like, as would be expected. Some of you may have seen my posts comparing the detectors I do have on a wet sand...

Equinox 900 on wet sand or in saltwater vs. others

I’m interested in anyone’s input on the performance of the Equinox 900 on the wet sand/water compared other detectors. So far from reading the forum the leaders are the following: - AQ Pulse - Legend - Excalibur I have an Excalibur and it beats the Equinox 800 in wet sand with both a small...

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

Here is a pic of a small men’s 14kt band in wet saltwater sand at one foot. I could detect it with all metal/pinpoint mode on my Excalibur 1000 (original Excal, not Excal II). Can anyone beat this depth?

COILTEK 15 inch all terrain with Equinox?

Does anyone know if a COILTEK all terrain circular 15 inch coil (orange in color) can be connected to an Equinox 800? I used to have it in my Excal II but had removed it. There is no connector on it. If yes, does anyone know if it can perform better than the large Equinox 800 coil?

Best coil for the Excal in saltwater wading

I’m looking for an opinion on the best, in your opinion, coil for the Excalibur (original Excalibur, not Excalibur II). I had good success with a large SEF butterfly-appearing coil but the minelab repair shop said they detected a leak and I replaced it with a coil tek 15” which I thought was...

JW Fisher 4 foot wide coil with 6x or 8x

I read there is a 4 foot wide coil that can be dragged it towed using a JW Fishers 6x or 8x detector. Does anyone have experience using this? I could imagine dragging it through the surf to find targets, wet sand, or beach. Or boat possibly. I don’t own a 8x or 6x unit but if something...

Keep it sell an original Excal 1000

Well, I have used an original Excal 1000 for 20 years and this machine has produced. I’m thinking about selling it because I’m not sure if I’m missing finer gold underwater. Curious about the forum’s input on this.

    AQ1B detector questions

I have an AQ1B unit that works very well underwater or on land but have had challenges in the surf. I was told this detector wasn’t designed for the surf but curious if anyone here has tried it. Also what is the smallest item you have been able to detect and have you been able to pick up fine...

Largest coil for Original Excalibur 1000 BBS Tech

I have an original Minelab Excalibur 1000 BBS technology detector that I’ve used for many years. I’ve had the original 10” coil, a large SEF coil, a CoilTec Sovereign 15” coil, and now back to an Excalibur II 10” coil. I’m curious to know if anyone has tried any other coil with this machine.

Gold- Equinox 800 on wet sand or underwater

This post is about using the Equinox 800 on wet sand or underwater in the ocean to find gold. I found that the Gold1 and Gold2 settings work well on dry sand to find gold. On wet sand however, the Gold settings do not work due to too much background noise. I think park or beach settings are...

XP Deus II saltwater underwater gold chains

Hello, I am researching the XP Deus II for use in wading in saltwater. Has anyone gotten the unit wet or submerged it? What are its abilities to find gold chains? Some detectors do not pick up chains either underwater, wet sand, or dry sand. Thanks, Surfline
