    My Favorite Artillery Pieces

I did not dig the 2 "restored" shells on the right, but I know the history. The CS Reed shell was plowed up on a farm that used to be my Great Grandfather's plantation. There was a small battle that took place there. The CS case shot cannonball was found in an old house at Sayler's Creek decades...

    Wilson RC IV.

Got my 2 Wilson's back today. The old, ugly RC works perfectly! It has a huge coil on it, but air tests great, and seems to be stable. The nice looking ATD shows battery strength on the meter, but thats all. No beeps. The IV looks like it's been through hell, but works, with or without...

    Wilson Detectors

I went by an estate sale this morning and bought 2 Wilson machines for 5.00 each. One is a Daytona model with a small coil. It is in better shape than the other, which has a big coil. These came from near Petersburg, and I'm sure they were used for relics. I need to have new 9v battery...

    This got me excited

Found this in the water today. I thought I had something good! It turned out to be a Fitbit in a necklace case. I really don't even know what these things do.

    Anybody use a DetectorPro Pirate?

I have one that I bought years ago, while my Tiger Shark was off for repairs. I did well with it, but when the Tiger got back, I never used the Pirate Pro again. Been thinking about taking it out again.

    Nice Silver Ring

Took the Conquistador out for a while today, and found this 925 silver ring. Also found some junk earrings and a little change. Another fun hunt!

    Scoop Deal

Went in a flea market yesterday, and found this scoop for 10.00! It's time to retire my old, heavy homemade one, anyway.

    10.00 Conquistador finds gold.

Went to a different beach today, where there was no interferance from mineralization. Found the usual change, junk jewelry, etc. Then found a 14k bracelet. First time I've seen real gold in the scoop in years! Took the bracelet by a jewelry store to get it repaired as a Christmas gift for wife...

    Tesoro Compadre...Deal?

A friend has a Compadre that is in "like new" condition. Probably has less than 2 hours use on it. He paid 150.00 for it, and I can probably buy it for that amount. I don't know what these are bringing now. Just thinking...

    Conquistador umax coil question

I'm sure Monte can answer this for me. I used the Conquistador to hunt a lakes waters edge a while back. I did find 3 rings and the machine did good, but at 2 freshwater beaches, the machine had a couple of false signal spells. I figured it was electronic field interruptions. Went back today...

    Hunt with 10.00 Conquistador today

I bought a Tesoro at a yard sale back in June, and finally took it out today. It did me well, as Tesoro products usually do. I hunted in all metal mode and found 2 tungsten carbide rings(redneck gold), some change, and then a 2009 girl's class ring. You don't need high-tech to have fun!

    My old homemade scoop

This scoop has been with me since 1979. It is steel, and kind of heavy now for arthritic hands. I think I am on the 4th handle, but it has been a good one. May have to get a lighter one, though.

    A few finds.

Went out for a couple hours today and found a few things. I think the earring is 10k. Found a small silver ring, a large junk Batman ring, junk watch, and some change. It was fun to go again!

May take the Tiger Shark out tomorrow.

If I go tomorrow, it will only be the third time out this year. Health issues have kept me in. Lake levels were high all summer, also, but they are now coming down. Don't know what the water temp is, but I plan on wading out as far as possible.

    5.00 Nautilus Detector

Went to a yardsale this morning and got this old, dirty DMC for 5.00! Don't know if it works yet, but a happy find!

    Back in The Water

It has been 2 years since I went digging, so this morning I went to one my old places. Found a lot of change, some junk, and a Tungsten Wedding band. I hate those things, even though it WAS a ring. Years ago, I found a lot of gold rings, but all of a sudden, the gold stopped and the Tungsten...

    Lucky Yard Sale Find

This morning, wife and I went out looking for sales, and I bought a working Tesoro Conquistador umax for 10.00! I couldn't believe my luck on that one. When I asked the guy how much he wanted for it, I was expecting maybe in the 50-100$ range, but he said 10.00. Bad health won't let me hunt much...

    Still Using Old Tiger Shark

I've been out of serious detecting for a good while now, and didn't even know that Tesoro was history until yesterday. My 2 favorite machines are Tesoro, but I am thinking about getting an Equinox 6 or 800. Just wondering if the Equinox will outperform the old Tiger Shark. Oh, well. Decisions...
