1789 George Washington Inauguration Button : Update

After speaking to numerous Archaeologists and Conservators, I was told not to try and clean it, but to contact someone who specialises more in this kind of thing and gave me a name of someone in California. After researching it he stated that this type is extremely rare and almost always found in poor condition. Being Brass 34mm with the gold gilding still showing, he said it could be worth $10,000.

Thanks Mattockman, Saw your pictures of the October hunt. Looked like a good time, but was that frost on the ground. Maybe I will make it to the spring hunt. Thanks again.

I don't know. That may be the find of my life. I was shocked when I was told it's worth. I was thinking maybe $1000. I thought the Gold Rolex watch ($6000) I found on the beach 3 years ago would be my all time best find. You never know.
The guy I hunt with has practically fallen into depression because he had just gone over that area with his Whites DFX.:sadwalk:

Yes John...there was plenty of frost on the ground....it was a soft frost...not the frozen hard kind you get in the dead of winter....it warmed up nice and it all went away...my boots were soaked though tromping thru the grass....I seen a few wearing rubber knee high boots....good for the wet grass.
Hope to see you in the spring.....
